Every now and then, we come across reports of companies discriminating based on gender, race, color, or religion when hiring new candidates for their workforce. In a similar incident, a Sacramento woman, Brooke—who goes by @brookeloveshorror on TikTok—claimed that a local business refused to entertain job applications from women. She came across the controversial listing on Craigslist while looking for an employment opportunity for her partner. The video has garnered attention on social media, with over 291k views on the platform and thousands of people reacting to it.

"So I'm sitting here, scrolling through Craigslist, helping my man look for jobs, and I was like, oh, cool, roof cleaner, repair tech, whatever. He goes to the job application form, looks at this f****** b*******," Brooke said as she started her video. "Do you understand we don't hire females? Hey, Vasil Home Services. Why the f*** can't women clean gutters and f****** do solar power cleaning and power washing, pressure washing?" Her rant against the business continued in the 34-second clip. As she concluded, she asked, "Why the f*** don't you hire females?"

People on the internet were unhappy with it and started reacting to Brooke's video while sharing their experiences. @screwnicorn22 wrote, "I was applying for a job at the same company my fiancé works. They had a meeting begging for people to have friends apply; he said I did 4 times, HR looked him dead in the face and said no women." @jillianhuntress added, "I've had a man tell me my work ethic was so great that he'd love to have me on his team, but I'd be too much of a distraction for his boys." Sharing a slightly different perspective, @lori.dake said, “My husband runs a window cleaning company—about 50 employees. He's the hiring manager, too. While he's told me he doesn't get very many women to apply, he's certainly hired some."

After receiving a massive response to her first video, Brooke posted a follow-up video the next day, sharing how the company received negative reviews. "Waking up and seeing a terrible company getting negative reviews because you called them out for being misogynistic," the overlay text on her video read. She captioned her video, "Replying to @Kisforkari, should I call them when they open and ask for a woman to come clean my gutters and record their excuse?" The reaction showed Brooke in a better mood, with a smile.

People shared their views in the comments. "I love seeing the community come together like this," @crystalsandturkeysubs said while praising the support Brooke garnered. @universeglider added, "Review bombing is controversial but effective. Love this." The business in question, Vasil Home Services, has not reacted to Brooke's comments as of yet. Their page on Yelp, a customer review platform, has a 2.2 rating out of a maximum of 5, stating that it offers services such as "solar panel cleaning, rooftop solar shingles cleaning and rooftop solar panel cleaning." Moreover, the controversial job posting for a "Roofing Expert" is still active on Craigslist.
