Typewriter poetess in the park adds magic to man’s surprise proposal with heartfelt poetry

A proposal is likely to stay etched in a person's memory for a long time, so many couples strive to make it as beautiful and unique as possible. While there are various ways to make the experience memorable, one man enlisted the help of a poetess to propose to his girlfriend. The poetess, Olivia Dodd—who goes by @olivia.poetess on TikTok—often sits in a park with her typewriter, writing poetry for people. She recently shared one of her unforgettable interactions, where a man involved her in his dreamy and unique proposal to his girlfriend.

"What can I write for you about?" the poetess asked as the couple came by. "I want to talk about our relationship. I think we actually had quite a difficult year getting to know each other a bit more," the boyfriend shared. "We have been together for a long time. But we feel like we got through the other side. I think it's that sort of journey, going through a relationship and then looking where we are going next." With that, Dodd got to work and typed a poem on her typewriter. "Do you want to read it? Because I think it is really personal," Dodd asked the man as she gave the poem to him. "I think it would sound better if you read it."

"I have got something to help me with this process," the man admitted as he took a jewelry box from his pocket. "Are you joking?" the girlfriend expressed. The man sat down on one knee and recited, "The tide has risen over and over, testing how we can raise our hands together to reach the bliss, waiting to overcome everything this world has to offer, for we are stronger as one. I am full; I know that you are all I ever desired and now we walk towards these waters ahead." Finally, popping the question, he asked, "Will you marry me?" The girlfriend, who had broken down in tears, immediately answered, "Of course, yes." The couple hugged each other and thanked the poetess for her contribution. The woman also invited her to their wedding.

In one of the comments, the poetess shared a little bit of the back story behind the surprise. She wrote, "At 8:15 am, I get a dm saying: 'We're planning to pass by when you're in Regent's Park. It would be a great moment for me to propose if you're up for being a part of it?' During the next hour, we created a plan for me to write a poem that poses the question. And I would offer the poem for him to read to her. Then, at about 2 pm, this magic happened!" People in the comments admired the heartwarming moment.
