Eilish was in an interview with Jordan North for her album, 'Hit Me Hard and Soft,' when she learned some British words that she thought were hilarious.
Some slang or cuss words spoken in a particular region can leave anyone from another country hilariously baffled. Not just normal people but celebrities get confused too. Billie Eilish had a similar experience recently in an interview with Jordan North. She was speaking to him for Capital FM about the release of her album "Hit Me Hard and Soft" on the show, "A Very London Lunch." The interviewer taught Eilish a British cuss word and some slang words and she was left stunned.
They started the interview with English tea and North told her that an etiquette expert said the drink should be stirred back and forth. The singer expressed it didn't make sense to her and North agreed. He went on to ask her about her favorite type of lunches and she said it's sandwiches. So, he told her that they call it a "butty." She asked, "How do you spell that?" "B-u-t-t-y," he spelled it for her. She couldn't believe it and said, "That's crazy." North then told her what they call a cheese and ham sandwich, "A cheese and ham butty or a chip butty," he shared. Eilish started to laugh.
Next, the interviewer told her they call french fries "chips." She responded, "Oh, so fries in a sandwich is a chip butty." Intrigued, the singer asked North, "What is the weirdest thing that you guys say?" He told her, "Put the wood in the 'ole." She instantly reacted, "You guys are not real." Then he explained to her, "Put the wood in the 'ole means shut the door." Eilish tried to repeat the word and said, "Wooden fold, what did you say?" He laughed, listening to her pronunciation. He corrected it by saying, "Put the wood in the hole."
The singer then asked North, "What's like an insult?" "We say 'gobs***e' and that's my favorite swear word," the interviewer told Eilish. She tried to repeat it multiple times and get it right. He then explained to her how they use the word. He said, "So if someone said, oh, he's an utter gobs***e, they talk rubbish." After this, he asked her about her album and how it had an amazing response across the board. Eilish said, "I feel so good about it, like the most shocking reaction of my life. It's been so good I can't believe my eyes. Every time, it's been better than I could have ever dreamed of in a million years."
