Social media is filled with influencers who constantly run behind beauty standards, leading most of us to develop body image images. Bree Lenehan is changing this norm and trying to inspire people to embrace themselves. Lenehan, an Australian body positivity and health influencer—who goes by @breeelenehan on Instagram—posted a video back in 2022 that made people look at their changing bodies in a different light.

The influencer made sure to film herself from the side and front angles for an entire week to make an important point about how often our bodies change their shape, which is completely normal. Lenehan's shape of stomach appears to be completely flat on some days, whereas, on other days, it appears to be bloated. She has been urging people to accept this bodily process, which almost everyone experiences. Through a lengthy caption on her Instagram video, Lenehan explained to her viewers about this little experiment she did. "Just leaving this here as a reminder that you cannot base your worth around something as ever-changing as your body! If you do, you're pretty much settling for a lifetime of self-judgment, negative self-talk and shame," she wrote at the beginning of her caption.

The influencer describes every human body as amazing as it's constantly working hard for us. "Millions of little microscopic tasks are happening within our bodies every minute, so it's hardly fair to expect your body to always look the same," she continues writing, as the frames in the video change from day one to day 7, gradually. "Not only that, but many external factors can cause your body to fluctuate as well."

Lenehan mentions that stress sleep, what and how much we eat, exercise, hormones, food allergies and inflamed muscles are mostly responsible for making our bodies appear different on different days. "I notice changes in my body, but also in my skin, my mood, my energy and how I felt overall. The human body creates a rollercoaster of emotions and fluctuations with every day that passes. So I thought it'd be interesting to share since all of these things can cause us to feel the highest highs or a little down in the dumps, but we really should take it all with a grain of salt," she continues.

Lenehan assures everyone that these changes are temporary and it's a miracle. She also urged her followers and fellow netizens to share their similar experiences in the comment section. To conclude her post, she advises people not to film their bodies every day if they are struggling severely with their body image and that she had documented her body's changes for educational purposes only to show everyone that all these bodily fluctuations are part of being a human.

@lariana__ quipped, "Yes! Love this! This is literally what happens to me! One day, I am super flat, the next day, I am super bloated. I used to fight myself over it till I realized it was normal. People get bloated! It's normal." @mdcaudill commented, "Thank you so much for your transparency and being real! My 11-year-old is already struggling so much with body image issues and your message of body acceptance and loving yourself is. Thank You!"

Lenehan's page is full of other videos where she continues to debunk the internet myth of how we always need to look perfect. In another video, which she has pinned to the top of her Instagram page, she shares her journey from being a binge-eater with low self-esteem who can be seen hiding herself every time her boyfriend points the camera at her. However, Lenehan reveals how she had grown from the insecure person she was, accepted her body, started working on it and is no longer hiding her real self.
