Anyone who has ever been late to class knows that giving a valid excuse for your absence is never easy. Others might have heard their classmates give a plethora of believable and unbelievable excuses. But Prince William himself making an excuse for students for being late to class? Unheard of. A few girls got this rare chance when Prince William's visit to their university made them late for class. One of the girls, Samantha Johnson—who goes by @samanthaj0hns0n on TikTok—shared the incident with her viewers.

"Prince William gives you the best excuse for being late," the text overlay of the video read. "Yeah, just tell her why we are late," Johnson told him while talking to the camera and requested him to get them out of this situation. "Just say sorry." The Prince of Wales confirmed, "Sorry to Leslie?" He continued, "Are you recording?" The girl confirmed it and he said, "Leslie, I am very sorry we are late. They were just caught up and said that you wouldn't believe that they were here, so just say hi," the video concluded. The video has garnered over 7.2 million views and more than 1.3 million likes.

Johnson is a student of Ulster University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as reported by Good Morning America. The student shared that she had to wait in the security line for an hour with her friends due to the visit, which was also an unexpected one. There were barricades, and hence, the group couldn't get to their class. "Our lecturer messaged in the group chat saying if we didn't come up, we'd have to stay half an hour behind in class. So the lovely Prince William kindly gave us a late excuse since no one knew he was visiting and [the professor] wouldn't believe us if we said we were late because of him," Johnson revealed. The prince visited the university during his one-day trip to Belfast to promote his work to end homelessness.

People applauded what the prince did and expressed their thoughts on the unusual incident. @delilahmunroe wrote, "I love that he's like, 'Sorry, we're late,' as if he was supposed to be meeting up with Leslie too." @sara_uk260 commented, "He and his wife Kate are super lovely. I wish people knew that and not make assumptions about them. It's not his fault for being born royal. His mum and the queen were lovely as well; they will be proud."

@thehappylimo remarked, "I was convinced I was going to marry him when I was little. I live in Idaho. I still love him even if I got married in 2003." @daninlids shared, "What a special moment. He is a gentleman and a properly good guy. Both he and his wife are fantastic humans. Thanks for sharing." @kaimitchell389 expressed, "Considering how distant I always thought the royal family was, it's really cool to see them just being chill and interacting with people and having fun." @emiilyheatherr chimed in, "Being royally pardoned from your lecture is absolutely brilliant!"
