Norris strode confidently across the stage in a short, sparkly dress, bright pink heels and the traditional cap and gown. However, her black graduation gown hid a secret.
Admittedly we all lowkey admired Elle Wood's looks and styles in "Legally Blond." We might have even taken some inspiration on a few occasions but this college graduate who is clearly in love with the color pink took this inspiration to a level Elle Woods would be proud to see. Lauren Norris, a recent college graduate, pulled off a colorful surprise during her graduation ceremony when she revealed the pink gown she was secretly wearing underneath her traditional black college graduation gown.
On theme with her YouTube page's motto "Be the girl that goes for it," Norris did just that, revealing her secret as she got her degree and walked off like the world is her stage at her University of Alabama graduation in a short dress, bright pink heels and the traditional cap and gown.
She left the audience awestruck after accepting her diploma by removing one sleeve of her standard-issue black gown to reveal one side of the pink gown, the sleeve a bright contrast in a sea of dark colors. She then added a graceful twirl to her big reveal before finishing the brilliant performance with a kiss and a wave to the audience.
"Life is simple if you follow the bend and snap," Norris' TikTok says, referring to the famous flirting tip from the film "Legally Blonde." The video clip of her graduation—set to an audio clip of Elle Woods saying, "What like it's hard?" when she tells her dumbfounded ex that she got into Harvard Law—attracted more than 10 million views.
A secret pink gown hidden beneath a college gown may seem unapologetically extravaganza but it is actually against the rules governing most college commencement ceremonies. People in the comment section were proud of her and compared her to Elle Woods. "I love watching women be happy and accomplish their goals" commented @suziecooke. "Elle Woods would be proud," wrote @Burga. "Idk about y’all but it’s kinda giving legally blonde with the pink" added @gabs.
Someone else who reminds us of Elle Wood is this attorney who styles herself like a "real-life Elle Woods" and lives up to the label. Kathleen Martinez (@attorneymartinez) is a Texas-based immigration attorney. She used TikTok to share a day in her life as well as retort to those who criticize her glamorous fashion choices. "Day in the life of an attorney," she titled a video. "Elle Woods' version."
For virtual court day, Martinez wore a bright blue pantsuit with a pink handbag and pink heels."I'm going to pair it with pink Valentino," she said. "Because of course, I can't have enough pink with my outfit. Nothing says 'I'm going to win' like being both smart and beautiful. I'm loving it. And obviously feeling it because I won."
