Everyone's gearing up to celebrate the comedy legend's birthday in style but the wait is excruciating. Betty White is widely regarded as a national treasure and the internet wants national security afforded to the actor so she can continue kicking a$$ on TV and films. It all started after @HeyokaEmpath01 tweeted: "Betty White is 99 years old and 3 months away from 100; please provide her with national security protection and wrap her safely in bubble wrap; we love her." Some even demanded a Twitter feature to check up on the actor.
White has cut down on her acting gigs but she's motoring on as strong as ever. Last year, when she was asked about her plans for her 99th birthday, she told TODAY, "You probably didn't ask, but I'll tell you anyway. What am I doing for my birthday? Running a mile each morning has been curtailed by Coronavirus, so I am working on getting The Pet Set re-released, and feeding the two ducks who come to visit me every day." The pandemic, which affects elderly people, has further forced Betty White indoors but not to worry she has her animals and crossword puzzles for company. "The virus is afraid of Betty!" joked White's publicist last year.
