Nothing beats the relentless communication skills of parents. No matter their language, mode of communication or any other aspect, all parents are somehow hilariously united by their default parenting skills. Of late, young people are adorably exposing their parents’ frivolous texts and it’s a relatable thread on a global level. Right from dad’s “K” to mom’s “Call me,” youngsters are bawling in laughter at their folks’ ruthless texting style. A young woman Jocelyn—who goes by @jawsolyn on TikTok—shared the same about her mum’s texts. “Does anyone else’s parents send ominous texts that sound like emergencies when they’re not?” she asked.

Recalling a hilarious example, Jocelyn said, “My mom is notorious for this. The other day, she sent me a text saying, ‘Can you talk?’ just this.” She added that her mom uses the same phrase diligently every single time and as her daughter, she concerningly calls her up immediately. The silly bit is that Jocelyn, like several other kids, is left to ponder what the reason for the impromptu, serious message was. “There is no telling what she wants to talk about. It could be her asking me to pick her up from her doctor’s appointment or it could be her asking me what I want from H Mart since she’s going grocery shopping,” Jocelyn remarked.

She mentioned how bizarre it seemed that she stopped work and called her mom following the text only to be asked what she wanted from a store. “The other time she called me at work in between meetings to ask me about vacation options I wasn’t even going to go on,” Jocelyn hilariously recalled. These parental shenanigans are the default adorable cons that most kids are astounded by. Another woman, Ava—who goes by @avascreams on TikTok—shared another apt yet ridiculous example. “I could be five minutes away and my mom would be like, ‘Be alert.’ Like, I’m at the pool, who has a hit out on me?” she asked, hilariously baffled.

Ava added that it’s not just the overprotective moms but also the overthinking dads who add to the hilarious thread of texts. “Last night, my dad sent me a text, ‘When you move to LA, I’m coming with you. You can’t escape me.’ Brother what? Who said I was moving to LA?! What is going on?!” she exclaimed. “To swipe up on my ‘Do not disturb’ and see ‘You can’t escape me’ from my dad is one of the top 10 jumpscares of my life!” she said. Ava bluntly shared the top favorite texts parents recklessly hit the send button on. “They love to hit me with, ‘We need to talk.’” While it’s a freakshow till kids try to figure out what needs to be talked about, parents turn up saying, “Oh, we wanted to talk about what to have for dinner.”

Several people shared other texts parents sent without remorse or thought, let alone context. @wonnieesheep shared, “‘Are you alone?’ Well, I hope I am!” @foltaem added, “‘Prepare for the cold…’ What are we, pilgrims!?” @fronkly wrote, “‘Wake up, they’ll be here soon…’ I’m sorry, who?!” @anzyeityyo remarked, “‘He’s outside…’ He who mother?!” @alesickoo mentioned, “My dad types ‘...’ at the end of every message. What are you hiding from me?!”
