Cousin hilariously sabotages GenZer's attempt to impress date by translating a Portuguese poem

Sometimes, life shows us that we reap what we sow. Many people forget that they can't get away with treating another person in a demeaning way even while asking for help. But one individual got back at their impudent cousin in the most hilarious way by doing just what he expected. A part-time cafe worker who goes by u/Alert-Librarian-6943 on Reddit shared a post about the time when they mistranslated a Portuguese poem for their cousin because he wasn't asking nicely. Also, they were frustrated that the cousin's intention to learn a new language was quite ungracious.

During their part-time job, the European cafe worker often flaunted their English knowledge though they weren't quite fluent in it. When they showed off how much they understood English, it often turned heads in their locality and many elders were gushing about it. One fine day, their cousin approached them to teach him English. "He was very into video games, books and social media - the usual person in the mid-20s if you ask me," they explained. So, they were naturally concerned about why the cousin wanted to learn the language. Suggesting him to use English-learning apps and watch English movies didn't work because the cousin wanted more. 

"He wasn't satisfied, he said he needs someone to be with him to check on how he evolves in the language," the individual mentioned. Knowing their cousin pretty well, the cafe worker tried to dig deeper as to why he really wanted to learn the language. "He said exactly this, 'There is this one English girl that is a poet. She's fine and I wanna hook up with her. I have this cool poem for them,'" they wrote. "I stood there for 3 minutes in silence. He just wanted to learn the language for a good night?" they added in astonishment. When they realized that teaching the language wasn't worth it for a one-time hook-up, they offered to translate the poem for their cousin.

The cousin half-heartedly agreed to go with the translation but he wasn't very polite while asking for the favor. "He sounded like a damn king sparing the life of a peasant and he said, 'Don't you dare change a thing on the poem! Just translate it literally and that's it,'" they said. So, the Europeans did "literally" what the cousin asked them to. Their translation of the poem read, "Your eyes is how the sky blue. Stones brilliants on night starry. I myself ask if you cans see the mine's? Because defentively I cans see the yours the day all." 

The internet was cracking up in the comments. "My youth would have been so much better if I had used poetry to express my feelings! Alas, I was not as brilliant as this master wordsmith. I imagine he is now married with three children," quipped u/AppropriateRip9996. "This poem is way ahead of its time. Just kidding, I hate it and I hope your cousin gets slapped," joked u/kingjakey75. For some people who validated the cousin's intentions, the user replied, "It's just not worth spending time teaching over a one-night stand. And even so, I did offer my help with the poem. I just did what I did because he didn't have the decency to at least say thank you or please."
