Young woman gives wholesome surprise to singer who helped save her life when she was a baby

The world is a big place and it is easy to get lost in its many complexities. This makes instances of the universe bringing strangers together for a bigger purpose all the more special. In one such incident, a 23-year-old woman got to meet and thank singer Richie Jen, who had saved her life 21 years ago, when she was just one year old. A viral video of their heartwarming meeting was reposted by different accounts and reached a 2.2 million viewership on the TikTok account @couples_mix.

The video shows a young woman named Lin Shan stepping up to a mic and introducing herself at one of Jen's shows. “I’m 23 years old, but I have known you for 22 years. And you held me in your arms when I was a baby,” she explains. The singer reacts in surprise upon hearing this and the crowd cheers on. Shan then says that she has photos to prove it as well and the singer asks to “give her a close-up shot.” The photos show a younger Jen holding baby Shan in his arms. Shan goes on to say that she’s not sure whether he remembers her, but she has “always remembered” him “throughout 23 years.”

She then recollects and narrates the occasion when the singer helped save her life. “In 2001, when I was only one year old. I had congenital heart disease. My family couldn’t save me due to a poor financial situation.” She continued to share that at the time, Jen was on his way to Shenyang for a concert when he read her story in the newspaper and decided to donate 30,000 yuan ($4,000) to her so that she could “receive the surgery.”

The singer looks pleasantly surprised and flabbergasted at this revelation, saying, “Oh my god! You’ve grown up!” The crowd can be seen cheering on the nostalgic recollection of the singer’s noble gesture. Shan gets emotional and shares, “It is because of your help that I can stand here healthily. So, since I could remember, I have always wanted to thank you in person.”

Jen thanked the young girl and the crowd applauded the precious moment between the two.
