Young musician tunes homeless man's guitar and enjoys music with him: 'Kindness is free'

Music and kindness can connect people in various ways. It doesn't take much to treat people with kindness and make the world a better place to live in. A woman named Ollie—who goes by @dipsoobrien on TikTok—is a reminder that kindness and music go hand in hand. She shared a video of her boyfriend singing, along with a homeless man, who was playing a harmonica while the boyfriend played a guitar. Both of them seemed to be enjoying the music. The wholesome video was recorded when Jack Nicholson, the musician, was helping a homeless man tune his guitar. The two ended up singing "Dirty Old Town" together.

People applauded and cheered as the heartwarming performance went on. The girlfriend captioned the video, "Crying for the next week over this." The video has gained over 1 million views and 211k likes. The homeless man and Nicholson met when he was dropping his girlfriend at the airport, per Extra.ie. When the musician saw the man with a guitar, he gave him some money and requested to play something for them. The old man shared that his guitar was out of tune. "He asked what I wanted, and I said, 'A ballad if you can.' And he said, 'I don't want your money. I want you to do something for me,'" the 21-year-old recalled.

The old man wanted him to tune his guitar and Nicholson agreed. They ended up performing together once the guitar was working again. "I tuned up the guitar for him and I said, 'Right, I'll give you a song.' I was belting out the tune and he was loving it. There were people recording and everything, and one of the workers ended up coming out to see what was going on. It was great," the musician further added. His girlfriend was one of the people recording and said she would like to put the video on TikTok.

When asked about the massive response received on TikTok, the 21-year-old expressed, "I didn't think of TikTok or anything like that. I just saw an aul lad with a guitar and thought I'd have a bit of craic with him." The old man sang him "I Will Love You Every Time" by The Fureys before Nicholson finally left with his girlfriend. The boyfriend shared that he is glad to see how music can bring people together and give people so much joy. The man also admitted just how much he loved music and getting to work as a musician.
