Man rocks Fashion Week runway wearing a trash bag and shower cap — until the security guard realizes who he really is

Intruders crashing Fashion Week while models are strutting the runway is not something new. However, it can be quite surprising for the audience to see security running out and grabbing the crasher in the middle of a show. That's what happened in 2023, when a YouTuber named Fred Beyer (@FredBeyer) decided to crash a New York Fashion Week event hosted by Creators Inc., wearing a transparent poncho with a shower cap and neon pink pants. As he was striding confidently down the runway, a security guard sprinted behind to catch hold of him. The video has gained one million views so far.

Beyer shared a 13:15-minute-long video on his official YouTube channel, vlogging the whole thing that led to the debacle. He went inside the building through the VIP entrance, dressed in a white shirt, black tie, and formal pants. Since he was planning to prank the runway, he carried a black backpack for his clothes and wore a black pair of sunglasses to conceal his identity. In the video, Beyer said that all he had to do was look serious, follow a group, and he was in.

Inside the building, a few people recognized him, but he asked them to keep it on the "down-low." After the incident, he spoke to BoredPanda and said, "I managed to get behind the scenes by just acting like I belonged there. Getting behind the scenes to walk the stage proved to be a bit difficult, though."

One of the influencers at the event asked if Beyer wanted to be introduced to the owner who is managing the event. To Beyer's surprise, Andy (owner) recognized him because of a prank he played the previous year at Playlist Live in Orlando. Andy was not happy seeing him and started cussing him out. However, Beyer apologized to Andy, and the two made peace. Beyer tried to blend in with the crowd by sitting in the audience and watching a runway show before he pulled his prank. Beyer changed into his 'outfit' and strutted out on stage, looking back occasionally for any security guards. As he ended his one-way walk, a man clothed in all black wrapped his arms around Beyer's waist and yanked him off the runway. Andy confessed he knew Beyer was here to play all along.

Beyer is not the first to crash a fashion show. A WWD feature on runway crashers documents multiple real incidents across years. In 2014, a Ukrainian reporter named Vitalii Sediuk streaked in the middle of Prabal Gurung's 2014 fall show. He was wearing an open black trench coat, with nothing underneath but a cheetah print thong and a crown. In 2020, comedian and YouTuber Marie Benoliel a.k.a Marie S'Infiltre crashed Chanel's Spring Runway and was escorted off the stage by supermodel Gigi Hadid herself. In the same year, Dior's show in Morocco was crashed by a cat that joined the models on the runway.

Fred Beyer's video has reached 1,048,389 views, with over 42k likes and 1,902 comments. The comment section was filled with people who thought Beyer's prank was hilarious, while others were impressed with how swiftly the security guard tackled him off the stage. @momolu84 commented, "When I get rich, I'll need a bodyguard like this security guy. He whisked Fred out of there in just a couple of seconds. No time to even blink. And he's a cool guy on top of that." @SuperTrooperThorny thought that the guy who walked before Beyer was Kanye, and wrote, "The fact you shook Kanye’s hand is f*cking unreal, I wish I was you, bro."
