HL: Woman's typing hack after getting new nails get the internet talking
Salon fresh nails are always a treat to look at. While the love affair with our manicured nails isn't ending anytime soon, there's no denying the fact that nails do make navigating through our daily lives a tad bit difficult. This is probably why, social media users gravitated towards a post by a woman who shared her clever typing hack after getting her nails done. The woman, Gigi known on the platform as @gigichuut posted a video that quickly gained traction, demonstrating how she uses pens to type on her laptop instead of risking damage to her fresh set of acrylic.
"POV: you're just a girl who got her nails done and works an office job," the overlay text of the video reads. Currently, the post has more than 2.9 million likes and over 4,000 comments. In the video, the office worker can be seen holding two pens to tap on her keyboard which is making sure that the newly manicured nails are not breaking or chipping. "This would've made a great ASMR vid if my bracelet wasn't tippity tappying next to my clickity clackying," she writes in the caption.
Many took to the comment section to talk about various ways in which people protect their new long nails, with many talking about the tippy type keyboard cover. "check out tippy type!!! it’s specifically made for office girlies who get their nails done," writes @gotwingsss. Tippy-type are silicone cover that goes on top of your existing keyboard. This cover allows for more comfortable natural hand positioning and more space for your fingernails. The cover features raised keys that allow you to type efficiently.
Other people took to the video and talked about how practice can make anything possible. "I got used to typing with long nails. It’s really easy for me now, you should practice and see how it goes," writes @jessicavilchis222.
Another comment by @rumatikii talks about how membrane keyboards are one of the easier ones to type on with long nails, "Those keyboards are SO EASY to type on with nails. it’s those old bulky ones that are insane, she writes. Many others talked about how she was pretty fast with the two pens, "Lowkey you might be faster this way compared to people who use your fingers," writes @belldandyoum.
Improper typing styles, can not only damage your expensive set of nails but are also not very efficient. This is why, it's important to learn how to type with long nails. One of the best ways to type when you have long nails is but imitating a pianist. Pianists are very flexible when it comes to their fingers, imitating the same gesture can reduce the possibility of snapped fingernails. Apart from this, a proper posture is also important. You want to place your hands as parallel to the keyboard as possible which will help you use the pad of your finger instead of the nails for typing, via Nailboo.
