Couples who make and follow their sweet little traditions inspire others to have their versions of moments of togetherness. The same goes for John Cox and Julie Massey, who runs a TikTok page called @lifewithjohnandjulie. As their little tradition, every year in February, the couple visited their favorite Waffle House in Carrollton, Georgia, to celebrate Valentine's Day. But this February, it had some changes. Cox invited Massey for a "fine dining date" at the restaurant. Little did Massey know that their regular trip was much more than a date this time. The couple shared their heartwarming moment on the platform, and her reaction has attracted over 20 million views.

The video opens with Massey seated on her chair, dressed in a red sweatshirt and glittering hoop earrings. With her face down in front of the camera, she was immersed in slicing her dessert with a fork and a spoon on a white platter. As Massey was relishing a fresh waffle platter, Cox quipped, "Now look, it takes a real man to make Waffle House, look baby, it takes a real man to make Waffle House romantic." Massey playfully nodded with a "Yes." However, as she turned her gaze sideways, her eyes popped wide open. She left her fork on the plate and let out a gasp of surprise. She clipped her mouth with her hand and then covered her face with her palms as if in disbelief. Behind the camera, Cox was exploding into laughter.

Cox surprised her by popping the question in the middle of their meal. "I just have one question: will you marry me," He asked her, while she seemed flabbergasted. Behind the camera, Cox was exploding into laughter. In the meantime, a waitress extended a white plate to Massey. The plate had a golden brown waffle with a cute little black velvet box. The box contained a ring. As she took the plate from the waitress' hands, she couldn't stop looking at the ring, her face depicting a fleeting curve of lovely sentiment. "I got you, beef jerky," she exclaimed while looking at Cox and fighting her tears. As Cox erupted into laughter, she leaned back and covered her eyes, which were now streaming with happy tears.

The camera was directed to the waitress, who was grinning shyly, having executed the entire plan successfully. Later, Cox told Storyful that she was Kayla Cofield, their regular waitress. He had roped her in while crafting the plan over the past few months. Lastly, while Massey couldn't stop looking at the waffle tray with the ring, she mumbled something. Cox couldn't understand what she was saying. He asked her to repeat. "I will marry you," she mused, this time a bit louder. "Okay," he exclaimed, laughing. "You gonna show the ring...the waffle ring," he asked. Massey picked up the box and displayed it to the camera, saying, "Oh, it's beautiful, the Waffle ring! Oh, baby, it's gorgeous. You got me all verklempt!" as the video concluded. Verklempt is a Yiddish word that means "overcome with emotion."

People in the comments went crazy over the super-cute proposal. Many of them appreciated the simplicity of the proposal. @hapgirl36 said, "I love how simple and sweet this was." "It's not about how elaborate and fancy it is, it's about the love of two people together," commented @amichele_. @midnightprime01717 reflected, "Proof proposals don't need to be elaborate. Just two people in love at a Waffle House." They even received a congratulatory note from the Waffle House itself. Other people urged the restaurant to cater the couple's wedding.
