Despite being told that her method for selecting daily outfits was 'bizarre,' the woman explained how the routine helped her.
Scanning through the closet every morning and deciding what to wear is an adventure in itself. The myriads of colors and textures leave people at a crossroads as to what to pair with what. It's a never-ending dilemma. However, one woman has been going viral for her unique solution to avoid this dilemma every morning. Leah Flynn, a content creator better known as "GrincySabrincy" (@grincysabrincy on TikTok), revealed her "daily dressing routine" in a video and while some can't wrap their heads around it, others are all for it.
Flynn began her video by saying that her friends found her method of choosing outfits "bizarre" and wanted her to do a GRWM (get ready with me) video. So, as she was prepared to rehearse with her acting class peer, she decided to give a glimpse of her dressing routine. Revealing her closet, Flynn shared that she had segregated her clothes as tops and bottoms separately. She added that whenever she put her used or clean clothes into the closet, she ensured to hang them in last. So, when she picked her outfit for the day, she picked the first top and the first bottom and on putting them together, her morning dressing routine was done.
In the video, Flynn paired a white printed t-shirt with an orange floral skirt and a pair of slides to complete the look. She mentioned that if her wife were home, she would've made her roll her sleeves, but since she wasn't, Flynn could do as she pleased. "I had a few outfits I wore all the time and a lot of clothes I never wore, so this seemed like a fun way to create new outfits without spending any time or money," Flynn explained to Newsweek. Her "first top, first bottom" method seemed to be quite useful in helping her decide quickly. But that's not the only reason.
Flynn explained that she liked this method because that way, all her clothes would get their fair turn in being used. "It takes me almost no time to get dressed. All my clothes are getting worn. If something doesn't fit or I don't like it, I donate it so it is not taking up space in my closet," she mentioned. While this method works out for Flynn mostly, as her closet has several bright-colored or patterned clothes, it also gets a bit quirky. However, when someone compliments her quirkiness, the embarrassment fades away for Flynn.
If she needs to dress according to the occasion or a theme, Flynn carefully picks her outfit herself. But other times, this simple method worked for her and she called it "character building." Flynn's video went unexpectedly viral, garnering diverse opinions. "You don't have to check the weather first? That's the primary thing for me," wondered @emrt73. "The chaos. I could never. I wear 20% of what I own. My clothes are sad. They never get worn," chimed in @kikijamz. "What if it’s bad? Don’t just go to the next option until it works?" asked @ant1her0comp1ex.
While some found it chaotic, others love the idea. "Influencers call this a capsule wardrobe. Yours is just filled with whimsy and risk and I love it," said @rhapsodiva. "This is actually so cool! You have a concise wardrobe, less decision-making and encouraged experimentation all at once," pointed out @.solanah. "Clever! And then you get rid of stuff you don’t want to wear instead of it rotting in the closet," added @seaward_taco.
