Woman's lifelong search for her biological dad takes unexpected turn — he was on her Facebook friends list

Sometimes, strange coincidences in life can catch us completely off-guard, leaving even the world around us completely amazed. We often do come across stories of adopted children reuniting with their birth parents, but rarely do we hear of life-givers silently being around all this while. The same happened with a woman on a mission to find her biological mom and dad. Hailing from Georgia, Tamuna Museridze—who goes by @tamuna_museridze on Instagram—recently realized during the search that a man, originally her dad, had been friends with her on Facebook.

It all started with Museridze’s suspicion that she might have been adopted following the demise of the woman who raised her. The now 40-year-old got her hands on her birth certificate with a different date of birth in 2016, as reported by BBC. The professional journalist and TV producer started a Facebook page to discover more about her roots. A message from a woman in rural Georgia helped her connect the dots. Museridze was informed by a stranger that her aunt had concealed a pregnancy in September 1984.

Notably, the same time period matched the details mentioned in the newly discovered birth certificate with her name. Eventually, the two agreed to meet and decided to get a DNA test done. The results of the genetic testing were shocking, as both the women found out they were related to each other as first cousins. This development led Museridze to narrow down her search as she finally reached out to the stranger’s aunt for more clarity. However, fate was not in her favor. When the journalist connected with the stranger’s aunt, all she got in return was a rude response. During a call, Museridze’s probable birth mother reportedly started yelling at her at the top of her voice.

“She started screaming, shouting. She said she hadn’t given birth to a child. She didn’t want anything to do with me,” Museridze told the outlet. She was prepared for some reaction but never imagined it to be this kind. In the aftermath of the storm, Museridze again reached out to the woman with the hope of ending the week-long deadlock. This time around, the elderly lady on the other side of the phone accepted she was indeed her birth mother and spilled out the name of her biological dad, Gurgen Khorava. “I couldn’t believe these things were happening to me. I couldn’t believe I had found them,” the journalist added. With this, she intensified her search to track her birth father. During the process, social media came as a blessing for the journalist.

She came to find that Gurgen Khorava had been her longtime Facebook friend. “He didn’t even know my birth mother had been pregnant. It was a huge surprise for him,” she told the outlet. A meeting took place during which Khorava instantly recognized Museridze as his daughter. He also realized she resembled her unknown Facebook friend the most among his extended family members, including half-siblings. The biological mom later admitted to concealing her pregnancy and secretly giving birth in a nearby city due to fear of having a baby out of wedlock.
