The man approached the woman on a dating app and judged her as a party girl, solely based on her photo.
Women are often subjected to harsher judgments about their physical appearance than men, a reality highlighted in a post shared by an individual who goes by u/CouchTomato212 on Reddit. The eye-opening anecdote features a screenshot of a text conversation between a man and a woman on a dating app. When the man, Rob, made judgmental remarks based on her looks, the woman delivered a savage response that has since earned widespread praise.
At the top of the screenshot, the chat window displayed the name “Rob.” Beneath the photograph of a blond-haired woman wearing makeup appeared a message that reads, “Damn, you’re stunning, but I’m afraid you’d spend more time drinking/partying/on Instagram than in a relationship.” Replying to this message, the woman wrote, “You’re absolutely right, Rob.” Rob, tossing in repetitive 'lol's, responded with an entitled remark: “Who says you can’t judge someone based on a couple of pics, haha.” The woman replied, “I’m not sure. Who says that, Rob?”
The man continued with his imperious behavior. “Ignorant, naïve people,” he told the woman. Clearly infuriated by Rob’s high-handed behavior, as any sensible woman would, the woman had the perfect clapback. In a long reply, she slammed the man by saying he was the kind of a person who’s “too insecure.” “It’s my turn. I am pegging you as someone who is extremely insecure,” she wrote. “In relationships, you probably have extreme jealousy issues and are controlling. The girls you date probably aren’t allowed to go out and have fun because ‘girl nights’ are just excuses for them to cheat on you. You’ve been burned by someone in the past and now use that as a reason to attempt to gaslight every potential partner that you might have – because women are all evil and terrible and you’re just a ‘nice guy.’”
She added that although Rob’s profile said his height was “5 feet 9 inches,” she was willing to bet money that he was just “5 feet 7 inches in heels.” In the post caption, the Reddit user wrote, “Promptly blocked after this.” He shared that he came across this image in a Facebook post and reposted it on Reddit with her permission. “She’s a public figure on Instagram and I received her permission to post this onto Reddit,” he revealed in a comment and also shared that “[Rob] blocked her. I don't think her intention was to be right but to point out how it f*****g s**ks to be labeled by how you look.”
More than 82,000 people jumped into the comments section to roast Rob. “The best part is that he just assumed she'd want a relationship with him anyway. This is the kind of guy who cruises p*rn subs all day long, nitpicking and criticizing the bodies of women he wishes he had the confidence to talk to in real life,” commented u/BrimStoneJack. u/Funtacy said, “Even if he was right, and he didn't want someone like that, why bother to even message her at all?” u/ShambolicPaul said the woman in the picture “hit the nail on the head” with her last message.
Many saw this post as an entertaining suspenseful episode, eagerly wondering what happened to Rob in the end. “The suspense is killing me. Where’s the sequel,” exclaimed u/Nemorga2. u/BroAxe wrote that it was a good “murder by words.” In a comment, u/CouchTomato212 reflected, “Relationships shouldn't be competitions though. Guys who get the girls of their dreams are generally the ones who are secure enough with who they are to be proud of their special one's accomplishments, not envious.”
