One of the fascinating aspects of moving to a different country is the culture shock. Many a time, Americans on the internet have spoken about the contrasting lifestyles in the UK. Among many such people who talk about the culture shock of moving to the UK, Lisa Dollan–who goes by Yorkshire Peach (@yorkshirepeach) on TikTok–is popular. Earlier in 2023, the American woman shared a video about the "appropriate time to have a drink," according to the Brits and it went viral with over 3.3 million views. Playing the dual role of the American and her "British friend" she aced the scenario depiction and people couldn't agree more with her points.

While introducing herself as someone who had just moved to the UK from America, Dollan asked her British friend, "I was wondering when is it appropriate to have a drink in the UK? Could we sort of do a list?" The British friend starts the list with "Christmas season." When the American writes it down as "Christmas," the Brit corrects her by saying that they have a drink during the Christmas season, which, according to them, lasts from November 15 to January 15. Shocked by the three-month "Christmas season," the American gets ready to jot down the next occasion.

What followed next were more hilarious revelations that left the American jaw-dropped. It included birthdays. Not just 18 or above; even if it's a 2-year-old's birthday, it's okay to drink, as per the British friend. Funerals are appropriate too, because "you have to give them a proper send-off." These happy and sad occasions might make sense, but next comes "religious" events. Christening, for instance, deserved a celebratory drink, as per the Brit. When the American version of Dollan was shocked, the British friend simply asked her to write down, "All occasions of celebration. Or mourning."

Just when we think it is only about festivals or special occasions, more amusing points come up. "When it's sunny. Make sure you get that down," the British Dollan says. "Last but not least, Tuesdays," she adds. "What Tuesday, what?" the puzzled American asks and the British friend replies, "Any Tuesday, hun. Okay, just get it down." Hailing from Georgia, she knew well how to portray the culture shock when moving to the UK in a harmless yet humorous way. Dollan's hilariously accurate video garnered thousands of comments, some of which added more funny points to the list.

"When you're happy and when you're sad. When your friend is happy and when your friend is sad," @mollykilbs contributed to the list. "We have mojito Mondays, tequila Tuesdays, margarita Wednesdays, thirsty Thursdays, freedom Fridays, sangria Saturdays and sambuca Sundays," quipped @beck3002. "Also when on holiday, after work, for some jobs before work and whenever socializing or if with more than one other person," chimed in @saralovell2. "As a Brit in the US, the drinking culture is sad. Even restaurants won't allow you more than two or three beers before they cut you off," @peterddavenport5 added jokingly.
