The woman took it upon herself to cheer up her widowed grandfather on his first Christmas without his wife.
It is rare to find true love in this world. But, if one does ever have the fortune of finding it, nothing ever stays the same. Having the chance to build a family with them and growing old becomes the biggest source of joy. Sydney Falb's grandfather was one of the lucky ones to experience that great love with his wife. The couple faced all the ups and downs of life together and had a beautiful family containing their children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. Unfortunately, as with every great thing, this beautiful journey also ended. Last year, he lost his partner of 6 and a half decades. It was the first holiday season without her and the sadness was evident from his face. It inspired Falb—who goes by @sydfalb on TikTok—to arrange a beautiful gesture to raise his spirits. It emotionally moved her grandpa and made him feel all the love again.
The heartwarming video started with the grandpa holding a teddy bear in his hand. Falb explained in the text overlay, "My grandma passed away in October 2023. I found a way for my grandpa to always be able to hear her voice." Falb got the gift from her local Build-A-Bear. Though it came out to look beyond adorable, she did not really focus on the appearance during the making. The main objective was to incorporate the message from her departed grandma into the toy to the best of her abilities. After a lot of brainstorming, she was able to get to a product with which she was fully satisfied. As her grandfather was playing with the toy, she sweetly asked him to press on the paw. She said, "Get on. Put this to your ear."
Grandpa did as Falb told him and to his surprise, a message began playing in his ears. The message said, "Have a nice day, baby. I love you." He immediately recognized the voice of the love of his life and became emotional. Even the great-grandson joined the party and tried to hear from the paw. The grandfather could not believe Falb went so far just to make him happy. He began thanking her amid tears. In the comments section, she shared how the message was a voicemail she received from her grandma and saved it as a memory. The moment she had this idea, she was determined to use that particular message, and the Build-A-Bear foundation made her dream come true.
The emotional video went viral, garnering nearly 10 million views and over 1 million likes. People in the comments section loved this gesture. @maddie.xiong shared what she did in a similar situation and wrote, "My dad just passed away this July and we did this for my mom this Christmas too. It tells her to have a good day and that he loves her. This is so precious." @leoccult felt inspired by the video and commented, "My grandma also passed away this October. I think I'm gonna make something like this for my Grandpa."
