Woman's 16-year search for biological father ends with an emotional hug: 'I am going to cry'

For some people, the search for their biological parents can take a long time and be filled with challenges. While the journey can be tough, the emotional reward of finding answers can make it all worthwhile. This was the case for Deedee Boswell, who finally met her biological father after 16 years of searching. The woman, known as @comedyangel0718 on TikTok, shared the emotional moment of their first meeting on the platform.

"Meeting my biological father after years of looking for him," read the text overlay in the video. The woman walked up to her dad, accompanied by her children and others, to greet him for the first time in her life. She embraced him in a long, heartfelt hug. "I am going to cry," she said, overwhelmed with emotion. She introduced her children to him, and he greeted them with pure joy. In the caption of the video, she shared her entire journey of searching for him.

"After 16 years of searching, DNA test after DNA test and getting my ancestry results back nine years ago, I finally got them analyzed by a team of investigators and they helped me find him," the daughter wrote. "I found my sisters first and they told him about me. Less than 24 hours later, this man drove to the city I was in and we met for the first time since knowing who we were to each other." She continued, "This was on March 4th, 2024. My whole life has changed from this day forward. He became an instant grandpa and I now have a dad and SISTERS! I always wanted a sister. I now have two and five brothers. I love it so much!"

Speaking to Newsweek, Boswell shared, "My mom and I got into an argument when I was 16 and she told me her husband was not my biological father. I never knew prior to that moment, but it made so much sense after she said it. I was always treated very differently from his other children." That revelation sparked her search. Boswell's mother was 13 years old when she became pregnant with her, which made it difficult for the extended family to believe the man could be Boswell's father when DNA tests came up. Despite the challenges, Boswell had an emotional reunion with her dad. "He loves being a grandfather. He was shocked at first, but he said he always felt like something was missing, as did I. We are a family now," the daughter revealed.
