Being a woman in a male-dominated industry can pose unique challenges for women. They have to face a lot of bias and barriers to do their job. Martha Rosey, who goes by @martharoseyy on TikTok, put up a video revealing how one of her coworkers reacted after he learned that she was pregnant. Rosey's video has become quite popular on the platform, with 2.1 million views and 1448 comments.

She begins the video by stating that she informed all of her coworkers that she was pregnant. The incident with her coworker began sometime before she got to know that she was pregnant. Rosey shares that she works in a lab alone, and on one particular day, one of her male coworkers came into the lab to ask her if her parents had paid for her college education. She was not very eager from the beginning to answer his overly intrusive questions, but he did not get the hint.

The man was extremely curious to know if her parents had set up some kind of fund for her to afford college expenses. She relented and told him that she had to take a loan, which was why she had a bit of student debt. He then proceeded to suggest that she start a Roth IRA if she ever decided to have kids. At this point, Rosey was deeply frustrated with the conversation and just wanted to put an end to it. So, she told him that she did not intend to have kids in her life so he would get out of her lab.

After she announced during one of their meetings that she was pregnant, the man came by her and irritatingly remarked, "Really sounds like you didn't wanna have kids." Rosey was clearly not happy with the man's demeanor and rolled her eyes as she expressed that she just wanted him to shut up. People who watched the video understood Rosey's situation and shared their suggestions for handling the situation in the comments section.

@maggiedelight_ said, "Don't answer his questions. Talk to HR about his inappropriate behavior." Another individual, @rebec_h, pointed out, "His parents obviously paid for his college. How does someone not know what student loans are." @kswim8_9 shared, "Started new job in a male-dominated field. Was immediately asked if I was going to have kids to which I said no. Got pregnant with twins like a month later."

The bias that women face in such male-dominated workplaces is a problem that never really gets talked about. u/Anxious_North3397 shared how she could not land a job in the cyber security domain even though she had 4 years of experience. After facing many rejections, she decided to send a "fake male CV" to all the companies she had applied to. Unsurprisingly, many of the same companies that rejected her began reaching out when they saw that it was a male applicant. This incident highlights how women face gender discrimination at multiple levels when they work.
