A woman shared a heartwarming video of her husband's family spending Christmas night singing carols together.
Christmas with family is a time of joy, laughter and special traditions. However, each family has its own way of celebrating the festive cheer. Whether it's decorating the Christmas tree, preparing special meals or hosting family game nights, everything leads to unforgettable memories. It's what makes the holiday so special. For Amber (@paulnamber), who married into a family of singers and theater artists, Christmas is all about a musical tradition. Giving a sneak peek into her family’s Christmas celebration, Amber shared a heartwarming video on TikTok.
The woman lovingly captured a beautiful moment of her in-laws enjoying each other's company. Most of them were dressed in festive red, embracing the Christmas spirit, as they sang "Carol of the Bells" together. As the wholesome scene unfolded on the screen, the overlay text read, "When the family you married into is all singers and theater folks, you get this at Christmas." Amber also revealed that they had lost the "patriarch of the family" (her father-in-law), and it was his idea to sing carols on Christmas night.
"He was the one who had wanted to sing the carols that night. The popularity of the video brought him a tremendous amount of joy in his later years and he was amazed how far across the world it traveled based on the comments," the woman wrote in the caption. The TikTok video received an overwhelming response from people across the globe. For instance, @plaid.flannel271 commented, "This is so cool! My family does something similar where if one of us mentions anything remotely political we all start yelling at each other." @mommy2four1 wrote, "Did one person randomly start signing and everyone else just joined in? This was beautiful."
Similarly, @she_is_the_moon_ commented, "That old man just peacefully smiling to himself and playing with the dog like 'Oh! Yes, I have indeed won at life.'" Meanwhile, @skyeelizabeth22 wrote, "The fact that there are families that care enough about each other and can get along enough to sing Christmas carols (in excellence) gives me hope!" On the other hand, @_perkz wrote, "My husband's grandma dimmed the lights and randomly started singing silent night. We tried to join in and she shushed us and started over. That was my first Xmas with them." @unsoughtknox commented, "Imagine having enough musical family to have a full-on choir at family gatherings. Especially sopranos in this song."
@paulnamber This is the original video, the original post had reduced quality we think bc it was sent from an iphone to a pixel. We lost the patriarch of the family this year. He was the one who had wanted to sing the carols that night. The popularity of the video brought him a tremendous amount of joy in his later years and he was amazed how far across the world it traveled based on the comments. #ottweinfamily ♬ original sound - paulnamber
