Her husband is a huge 'Batman' fan, but she was unaware that he had named their daughter after a character from the franchise.
It is not uncommon for people to name their children after family members or idols. However, it is not an everyday occurrence to name a child after a "Batman" character. And yet, that's exactly what mom Via Shoe discovered her husband had done. For 10 months after their daughter's birth, Shoe—who goes by @viashoe on TikTok—had no idea that her partner had taken inspiration from "Batman" to name their child. The new mom took to the platform to share the moment she discovered the inspiration behind her daughter's name.
The mom was watching "Batman: The Animated Series" with her husband's family, while someone played with her daughter in the background. When a character on the show said, "My wife Nora..." realization immediately hit the mom. She turned to her husband with a shocked expression and asked, "Is this my daughter's name?" A voice in the background joked, "There you are, a spitting image," while another added, "She is in frozen sleep," referencing Nora, the wife of Dr. Freeze, who exists in a frozen state. The mom looked on in disbelief as people around her laughed and joked. "My husband named our daughter after a 'Batman' character and didn't tell me until she was 10 months old," the text overlay read.
"So my husband came up with the name Nora right when we found out she was a girl, and I loved the name. He never said where he heard it, just that he thought it was a cool name. Every other name he had come up with had a movie reference or something dorky, so I was happy we found a normal name we both loved, lol," the mom shared through the caption. "Flash forward and we have our daughter and when she is 10 months old (literally over a year since we named her), we are at his family's house for Thanksgiving and we sit down to watch a show. It was an episode of the 'Batman Animated Series' from the '90s that my husband has loved since he was a kid. The main villain is Mr. Freeze (literally, my husband's profile photo is Mr. Freeze on so many things I should have known) and his beautiful, sweet, frozen wife… is Nora."
"I love my daughter's name, I love my dorky husband (who 'accidentally' proposed on National Batman Day too, by the way), but all future baby names will have a thorough background check," she concluded. People in the comments loved the husband's dedication to Batman. @ranerdar wrote, "I tried to name my son Bruce. My wife said, 'No, it's an old man's name.' Four years later, we had our daughter... Harley."
@monstj_snake commented, "Proposed on National Batman Day, name daughter after a Batman character... I think, at this point, you just have to roll with it." @manal.alsheri60 remarked, "'Nora' is a feminine Arabic name that refers to 'radiance, illumination and beauty' and it is derived from one of the beautiful names of Allah that means 'Light.'" @schaeferej shared, "My son's name is Logan. On a totally unrelated note, the 1990s 'X-men' animated series was amazing." The mom replied, "Ironically, I love the name Logan. So we may have multiple animated series represented in our family at some point, haha."
@viashoe so my husband came up with the name Nora right when we found out she was a girl & I loved the name. He never said where he heard it, just that he thought it was a cool name. Everyother name he had come up with had a movie reference or something dorky so I was happy we found a normal name we both loved. lol. Flash forward & we have our daughter & when she is 10 months old (literally over a year since we named her) we are at his family’s house for thanksgiving & we sit down to watch a show “they watch every year” lol. Yeah no actually it was an episode of Batman Animated Series from the 90s that my husband has loved since he was a kid. The main villian is Mr. Freeze (literally my husband’s profile photo is mr. freeze on so many things I should have known) &&&& his beautiful sweet frozen wife… is nora. lol honestly impressed he kept this so close to his chest 😆 I love my daughter’s name, I love my dorky husband (who “accidentally” proposed on national batman day too btw), but all future baby names will have a thorough background check… #marriedlife #funnyhusband #batman #parenting ♬ original sound - via shoe
