Woman warned mistress’ husband about their partners' affair. At first he thought she was ‘crazy’ — later, he filed for divorce

After Messanie (@messanie3) discovered that her husband had cheated on her, she went on Instagram and found his mistress' account. She also found the woman's husband's account and reached out to him. She thought he would be grateful for the heads-up, but he called her "crazy." Little did he know, he'd eat his words later on. Messanie's video was shared on October 11, and it had 747,500 views, 39,300 likes, and 705 comments.

'Not my secret'

Messanie had previously shared how she discovered her husband's affair. After she found the mistress and her husband's Instagram accounts, she tried to talk to her, but got blocked. She wanted to speak to the husband, but her own husband begged her not to. She said she won't, but did anyway. "I messaged her husband on Instagram, kind of a 'hey girly' message, and I kept it really brief," Messanie said. She apologized for being the bearer of bad news. She wished someone would've told her, which was why she told him. She added, "I don't have a lot of details, but I have some. If you want those details, please feel free to message me. And if you don't, I understand that as well." He never replied, but she knew he read the message because the following day, her husband freaked out. He was angry she didn't keep her word and yelled at her. Messanie simply replied, "This is not my secret to keep. It's not my job to protect you."

He reached out again

After a while, Messanie and the mistress' husband got in touch. She was surprised to know they were still together. He called her "crazy" for accusing his wife of cheating on him. Since it happened a long time ago, the details were a little fuzzy, but Messanie knew he did not get the full story. "It was very clear that she was manipulating her husband, and probably said I was some crazy girl... I don't know what story she spun, but it was clear that he didn't have the correct story." Later on, he reached out to Messanie again, but this time, he told her they were getting divorced. She recalled, "He said that she was a narcissist." Since Messanie had blocked both her ex-husband and his mistress, she didn't know whether they were still together or not, but she concluded, "Hopefully they're happy together... Just kidding, I hope they're not happy."

Bearer of bad news

Nobody told Messanie that her husband was cheating on her; she had to find out on her own. When she realized the other woman was married, she informed her husband, something no one did for her. A 2024 YouGov poll found that 59% of U.S. adult citizens would definitely (31%) or probably (28%) tell a close friend if they knew their partner was cheating on them. 9% said they would not. While Messanie and the other woman's husband were not friends or acquaintances, she did what she thought was right by informing him.

'Don't tell her husband'

Several commenters criticized Messanie’s husband for asking her to keep the affair from the other woman’s spouse. @shelly_unfiltered wrote, "Him yelling at you when he’s the one that had the affair is sending me." @shorebird12 commented, "'My husband said don’t tell her husband.' I can’t even laugh hard enough at that. Sure, sir. I’m not going to immediately tell her husband. Not at all."
