Alyssa Lalmond shared how her mom revealed to a dear one that she was his organ donor leading to an emotional moment.
Being an organ donor is one of the most special things someone can do for others since it gives an individual a new lease of life. It's also an act of selflessness since the donor does take time to recover after the process and living with one kidney could also be a struggle later in life. However, this did not stop a woman from stepping up to save someone close to her. The story came to light when Alyssa Lalmond, who goes by @alyssa_lalmond on TikTok, shared a video describing the moment her mom revealed to a dear one that she was his kidney donor.
The video begins with the mom in an orange top and blue shorts holding a banner that reads, "I'm your donor - Connie" with a heart emoji, before she says on camera with excitement on her face, "I'm about to tell Bob that I'm his kidney donor." Next, she is seen in the backyard near the pool, holding the same banner and waiting for Bob to come out. The text overlay read, "My mom is the most amazing and selfless person." The man who walks out clueless about what is happening can only manage to say, "What?" before he sees Connie holding the banner. He is shocked to see that she donated her kidney for him, while his wife also walks out and starts shouting, "Oh my God! Oh my God!" as everyone is overwhelmed by emotions.
After this, the wife pushes Bob to go meet Connie but he is still seen standing there, shocked. By then, Lalmond's mom walks up to him and Bob immediately hugs her and starts crying. He keeps saying, "Oh my God! Oh my God!" and Connie tells him, "We have been doing this for a year. You just found out." They continue to hug and cry for the next few seconds and it ends with Bob telling Connie, "Thank you so much." The video caption reads, "My mom kept a special secret for over a year. I'm so amazed at how thoughtful she is. I'm beyond proud to be her daughter." In the comments, Lambard wrote that Bob is Connie's sister-in-law's father and that she had been testing for a year for approval as a donor and they kept it a secret, in case, it didn't work out.
The video garnered 12.3 million views on the platform and people in the comments poured out their love for Bob and Connie. @nccarson commented, "I really need to know this story because Bob and his wife seem like gems of humans and I’ve been crying for five minutes." @hpellerin wrote, "Love you all so much! Thank you for doing this for my Dad! This makes me cry every time!" @maine207dialysis shared, "I just got on the transplant list and this just made me bawl! So happy for you and Bob." @makayla3306 said, "This was so sweet and amazing to see the reaction. Love you guys so much!" @therapythoughtswithjb expressed, "Crying like a baby! Your mama is a hero. Bob is so appreciative."
In the follow-up video, Lalmond shared that her mother got approved as a donor that week and will be having the surgery in the following month but they are not sure. She added that her mom wanted to show people that if one has the chance to donate, they should do it because "you are potentially saving a life or extending somebody's life for the better." The woman went on to say that the comments opened her eyes to the fact that so many other people are going through this.
