When she confronted her boyfriend with the video evidence, he tried to shift the blame to her
When trust breaks down in a relationship, modern technology often delivers undeniable proof. A woman realized it the hard way after noticing a series of unsettling patterns in her partner during long-distance dating. What started as subtle red flags eventually unraveled into full-blown betrayal when an unexpected social media post exposed the reality behind his repeated excuses of spending time at a specific location. Taking to Reddit to share her sorrow, the woman (u/rothrowaway24) posted her story on October 11, 2026, under the title "I got cheated on again, lol." The post has since gained over 7,500 upvotes on Reddit.
The author, a 36-year-old mother of two daughters, had already endured severe heartbreak in the past after her ex-husband cheated on her twice. After taking time to heal, she began dating a new partner in December 2025. By April, as the relationship grew more serious, she finally felt safe opening her heart again. However, when he took a temporary job in a neighboring province in late July, the distance began testing their bond. Despite his assurances that a 90-minute flight wouldn't get in the way of their plans, things took a sharp turn on September 11. After exchanging routine texts, he suddenly began taking ages to reply. When the author checked his location, he was at an unfamiliar address. Minutes later, her Instagram algorithm suggested a woman, Jade's profile. "I asked him who Jade was, and he said she was a friend of a friend," the woman explained.

As the weeks dragged on, his location consistently placed him at that same mystery address, which he insisted was merely his "friend Ryan’s" apartment. Suspicious, the author gave him an out, pleading, "If there was someone else, he could just tell me and save us both the trouble." Yet, he steadfastly denied any wrongdoing. The turning point came when her boyfriend acted unusually cold, prompting the author to check his location once more. She noticed he was at a restaurant in downtown Calgary just a few blocks from "Ryan’s" apartment. She then inspected the other woman's Instagram story and found her boyfriend in the video footage she'd shared.
When the author called him out with the video evidence, he tried to shift the blame to her. "This kind of behaviour and messaging is exactly why I don’t want to talk to you," he said. Refusing to let the deceit slide, the author reached out directly to the other woman to reveal the truth. Reflecting on the painful cycle of infidelity, the author expressed her deep frustration and fatigue over the situation, leaving her feeling both furious and heartbroken after giving love another honest shot.
An ADT survey of over 1,000 smartphone users found that 53% of respondents shared their location with their significant other. In fact, most surveyed people said they feel safe knowing someone close has access to their location at all times. Besides a partner, 46% shared their location with parents, while 42% did the same with a sibling. The couple in the Reddit story must have decided to share their location for that very reason, but it backfired for the boyfriend.

The comment section overflowed with overwhelming support for the author. For example, u/JenninMiami commented, "No men have cheated on me since I stopped bothering with them. I recommend it, at least temporarily while you heal from this bullsh*t." u/Either-Paper8279 wrote, "I’m sorry that happened, but you’re better off without that a**hole. So many easy outs he didn’t want to take, then topping it off with the gaslighting."
