Angel's suspicions arose when her boyfriend of 5 years suddenly started disappearing on weekends, saying he was hanging out with boys
Every relationship has a set of boundaries and rules. When one partner violates these boundaries, it may often inspire the other to take revenge. When Angel (@spicyy.angell) came to know that her boyfriend of over five years had been violating their relationship by having a secret affair with a female co-worker, she planned a sting operation to entrap him. After he was caught and the evidence was collected, she snapped back with a fiery counterattack. In a February 16, 2026, Instagram reel (now deleted), she described how she utilized this co-worker’s gym selfies that she had sent to her boyfriend to expose them in public.
Caught off-guard
When Angel and her boyfriend started dating the first time, they shared their phone passwords to ensure that they could log into each other’s accounts anytime. At one point in time, her instincts screamed at her that something was wrong when her boyfriend started to stay out every weekend on the pretext of meeting his guy friends, something he didn’t do before. Then one day, Angel’s boyfriend came home super late, around two to three in the morning, which further fueled her suspicions. To dig into the matter, she planned a paint-and-sip date with him. They sipped wine and explored canvas paintings. At night, while he was taking a shower, she sneaked towards his phone and logged in. That’s when the skeleton fell from the closet.

On his phone, she found a trail of conversations he had with a female co-worker that indicated that he had been hanging out with her. His gallery showed a couple of gym selfies, with her asking things about pumps and how she looked in her workout clothes. All the evidence pointed out that he was lying to her about all those weekends. After he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, Angel decided to avenge the betrayal.
She researched this woman’s profile and, to her delight, discovered that she had a boyfriend. So, she screenshotted the photos and conversations in her boyfriend’s phone and posted them in his Instagram story. To make the revenge even sweeter, she tagged the woman and her boyfriend. Luck was on her side, because the story did exactly what she had intended to do.
The epidemic of two-timing
Infidelity is becoming increasingly common in America, but the real damage often begins after it's exposed. According to a study published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, between 43.4% and 61.2% of the betrayed individuals harbor thoughts of revenge towards their cheating partners.
Half of the individuals feel that they are the victims of their partner’s transgression and deserve to take revenge actions. Another report cited in the same study indicated that over 90% of the people act to get even with their partners. All this revenge, however, does little in providing emotional relief.
