Her $2,000 Canon camera vanished 2 months after she moved to Denver and made a new friend — what the 'friend' posted after 24 hours made it worse

Moving to a new city can be hard, but making friends can be harder. Faye DeLanie (@pookatooth) had just moved to Denver and thought she had made a new friend when she met Amber Rose Biedler. However, she discovered Biedler's true nature two months after her Canon G7x camera went missing. On September 3, 2026, when DeLanie finally went to pick up her stolen camera, she also shared Biedler's "speech" a few hours after she had taken the $2,000 camera. The video received 1.9 million views, 146,000 likes, and 917 comments.

'What does it look like?'

It was unclear how DeLanie and Biedler met, but after the former's camera went missing, she suspected it was Biedler. She only found out the truth after Biedler's friend sent her screenshots of their text messages where the latter admitted to stealing a G7x. Even though she felt guilty about it, she gave it to a friend who always wanted the exact camera. DeLanie also added screenshots of when she asked Biedler about the camera.

DeLanie asked her to look to see if she dropped it inside her car or if it was under the seat, but Biedler pretended not to know where it was and asked what it looked like. However, that was not the worst part. Biedler was a bad friend, but what she said in her Instagram story a few hours after she swiped the camera was so much worse.

Ironic speech

The post from the day Biedler took the camera was a quote by Brené Brown: "Choosing courage over comfort, choosing what's right over what is fun, fast, or easy, and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them." Ironically, she posted another video, talking about how she "operates on integrity, positivity, good vibes, inclusivity, and all of the things." She specifically said that people who knew her in real life would know she's telling the truth. "I will never compromise my ethical beliefs or morals and have a very high standard around the way that I move through life." All this was said after she did the very opposite of what she preached. 

Fake friends

Sadly, not everyone you surround yourself with is your friend. A study by Abdullah Almaatouq, Laura Radaelli, Alex Pentland, and Erez Shmueli found that 94% of the respondents believed their friends reciprocated their friendship. However, the reality was that only 53% of the friendships were reciprocated. Similar to DeLanie's case, she thought Biedler was a good friend, only to find out later that she stole from her.

Using 'integrity' loosely

Viewers did not go easy on Biedler in the comments after they found out what she had done. @theloudgiraffe commented, "Tea. Crazy to be asked and lie about it, knowing that you took it on purpose." @scarlethrj added, "That is so embarrassing, honestly. Like, to be lying and stealing as an adult, especially her trying to be an influencer. Like, get a job and buy one."
