Many parents go through hardships while bringing up their children. However, they always make sure that all the child's needs are met even if they have to sacrifice their own needs and wants for it. As they grow up, kids remember how hard their parents worked and don't forget to show their gratitude when they finally achieve their dreams. Debbie Ly, the daughter of immigrant parents, did not shy away from thanking her parents when she graduated last week.

In a heartwarming video shared on Instagram, Ly shows her gratitude towards her parents by dressing them in her graduation cap, gown and stash. She says, "I wanted to thank you for putting me through school and this is for you." She gives her father the stash and her mom the gown. "I know you put me through school and it was really hard and thank you for all the sacrifices you made," she tells her parents in the video.

Ly captioned the video, "I am beyond grateful for my college degree, but even more grateful for my incredible parents who made it possible. My mom and dad are both immigrants who fled their homes for a better future. They’ve worked their entire lives and didn’t get the opportunity to attend college. They sacrificed everything to give me a life they never had. I chose to wear this traditional áo dài in commemoration of my parent’s hard work and perseverance. As a first-generation college student, I'm proud to say I've made their dreams a reality. Thank you, Má and Ba, for your unwavering love and support, and for teaching me the value of hard work and determination. This is not just my graduation, it's ours."

Ly graduated from the University of Redlands this year. Many in the comments were proud of how Ly honored her parents. @brittanyhhh commented, "Stop I’m tearing up. Congrats you guys." @thatone_danielle wrote, "Carrying the new generation strong." @artkenz expressed, "HAPPY GRADUATION DAY!!!! I hope your dreams take you to the corners of your smiles, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of your opportunities, and to the most special places your heart has ever known. I am so lucky to have met you at Redlands. Wishing you so much love and happiness today."

@kasssandraaaam wrote, "You’re an inspiration! You did it! Congratulations." @marianaaaa.9 commented, "You did it and I couldn’t be any more proud, you are the prime example of what all first gens strive for."

Immigrant parents have to work way harder in foreign countries to support the dreams of their children. But once their children become successful they can't be happier. In another heartwarming video shared on TikTok by @tonystarklovergirl, a woman can be seen telling her father while walking towards him: "Baba, I passed the bar."

She jumps in excitement and runs to hug him. He says, "Really? Congratulations!" and hugs and kisses her. He then asks her, "When did you get the news?" She responds, "I got to know 20 minutes ago." He says, "Oh my God!" and once again hugs and kisses her. The video has a text overlay that reads: "The satisfaction of your siblings making your immigrant parents proud is unmatched."
