Woman keeps her childhood promise, asks her great-grandmother to be her maid of honor

Grandparents are undoubtedly a precious source of wisdom, love and guidance for many people. They often provide a unique perspective on life, shaped by their own experiences and cultural background and can offer valuable advice and support to their grandchildren. For a lot of people, their grandparents are among the most cherished and influential people in their lives and people can feel their impact for generations to come. Likewise, Erin Radmann wanted to extend all her love to her great-grandmother by asking her to be the maid of honor at her wedding. In a video posted on Reddit by u/mindyour, the grandmother is reading the letter that says, "Grandma Rose, will you be my Maid of Honor?" She asks her granddaughter, "You never gave up on me." Radmann asks her again, "Will you be my Maid of Honor, please?" The grandma continues, "Okay, I will have to learn to walk." They share a comforting embrace and Radmann gives her a necklace she could wear on her wedding day. This adorable video gained over 13.6k upvotes on Reddit and people applauded this beautiful moment between them.

Unfortunately, her great-grandmother could not make it till Radmann's wedding day and she passed away in 2021. Radmann announced her death in an Instagram post on October 13, 2021, by writing, "Yesterday we lost my sweet Great Grandma Rose. It’s been a tough day, reminiscing with family about holidays that she will not be here for. When I was 13, I promised my grandma she would be my maid of honor at my wedding." She added, "This summer I was able to ask her to be my Maid of Honor at my wedding, and she happily said Yes!

Radmann further clarified the story of her Great Grandma Rose in a TikTok video. She says that she never believed that her grandmother could pass away and was sure that she would be present on her wedding day. She asked her to be the maid of honor when she was 13 and then again asked her when she got engaged to her now-husband. "She thought maybe I forgot about her or I asked somebody else," Radmann says in the video. She even asked people if they have a way of honoring someone who has passed away at a wedding and got many responses.

She posted a tribute to her grandmother on her first death anniversary and after her wedding on Instagram. She wrote, "Not a day goes by where I don’t think about you and miss you terribly. Today, I will not cry or be sad. Instead, I’ll celebrate you and all of our incredible memories together. I love you so incredibly much, thank you for being my Maid of Honor, watching from heaven." Grandma Rose's story has gone viral on several social media platforms, with people appreciating Radmann for respecting and loving her so much.
