Grandma expresses her profound excitement and joy for welcoming her great-grandchild into the world.
People usually come up with fun new ways to break their pregnancy news to the rest of the family. So, when Shelby Hoefling–who goes on Instagram by @shelbyhoefling–was expecting a baby, she knew she had to tell her best friend and grandmother Patricia about it in the most creative way possible. Hoefling shared the moment and her amazing plan of a "bun in the oven" pregnancy reveal and her grandma's adorable reaction with the world.
The expecting mother captioned the video, "Telling Nanny that I'm pregnant (very cryptically hehe oops) was yet another moment that I wished for, hoped for and prayed for!" Hoefling packed a cardboard box full of condiments such as butter, ice cream and a note. She asked her grandma to open the box as she reacted to the butter and proceeded to read the note.
"I got you some butter for the bun in my oven," Hoefling joked with her grandma. The elderly woman took some time to grasp what was going on and tried to understand what the "bumpalicious" label on the ice cream meant. When she failed to figure out the big news through the hints, Hoefling gave in and told her directly about being pregnant. Patricia exclaimed readily and said, "I think it was marvelous. I am so excited!"

Hoefling told Good Morning America, "She lives two hours away from me, so I went and visited her the next day. I knew that I wanted to do something." She also admitted that she has always been close to her grandma and they would often spend quality time together ever since she was young. The duo would do everything from singing songs in the car to cooking, baking and having deep conversations.
This time, while visiting her granny, the 32-year-old would-be mom had to make this special announcement to Patricia in an unusual way. "To actually have her there to experience this exciting milestone that she and I had been talking about for practically my whole life, it was so special," Hoefling recalled. "All these things are happening very fast, but I'm absolutely okay with it because it means that nanny gets to be a part of it. So it's been a dream come true."

"I think we've been very blessed to do those things together. They're very important things," Patricia said during a brief chat with the outlet. Hoefling and her husband, Andy Rayner, are expecting a baby boy in February 2024 and they hope the little one can meet his great-grandmother in person. "She's like, 'Well, when's the baby due?' And I said 'February' and she's like, 'Ah! I'll stay for that. I"ll stay,'" Hoefling mentioned.

"We've had so many memories together and so many milestones and experiences, so if we can get more, that'd be great, but we're just grateful for what we get," she added, referring to her grandma's fragile health. It is not the first time Hoefling has shared videos with her grandma. She continues to take her audience through the pregnancy journey with Patricia by her side and helping the future mom with everything from singing a song to the unborn baby in her belly and even picking the baby's clothes.
