It is common knowledge that gun violence is a large problem in the US. It creates several other issues and puts people's safety in jeopardy. However, a woman believes that there is only one solution to gun violence. That is to make insurance compulsory for gun ownership. She explained the rationale behind the same in a video. The woman, Ryann, who goes by @ryannpdatsme on the platform shared her solution even though people might feel she is being radical.

"Call me radical, but I think the gun should start to have insurance policies. Sorry, that's my solution," Ryann began. "If I got to insure my Honda Civic, you need to insure your gun. As with anything valuable in this life, your health, your phone, your car, you insure it." She added, "If your guns are valuable to you, it shouldn't be a problem to insure them. Could you imagine, can't buy a gun till you get gun insurance baby." The woman explained, "Can't take it nowhere till you got gun insurance. Gotta show your proof of insurance. Somebody does something stupid with their gun, then guess who's gotta pay for it? The insurance company. That's going to regulate some things fast." She continued, "If you are at my house and you fall off my roof, that's on my home insurance policy, right?"

"If you are playing with my gun and you shoot somebody, that's on my gun insurance policy, right? I ain't just gonna let anybody have my gun. Hell, no. I pay insurance on this. I am just saying," Ryann expressed. "I don't say this often, but I think the insurance companies need to get involved. In fact, I don't think I have ever said that in my life, but I think the insurance companies, it is up to them. They are our last hope as saviors." She continued, "If the police catch you out with a gun, that doesn't have insurance on it, they can take it or you got to go to court."

"Get insurance on it or prove you had insurance on it. You get your gun back because you are a responsible gun owner," Ryann expressed. "Come on, you all. I know, this will sound radical to some, but to me, it's just rational." The video received more than 13.1 million views and over 2.8 million likes. People took to the comments section of the video to express their thoughts. @jesse.wilson93 wrote, "As an insurance agent, I love this idea. We do a risk assessment for everyone we write insurance for, so you have to meet the requirements to be insured. Then you have to pay for it. Love it. Let’s do it."

@slw2016 commented, "Get a lower premium if you take safety classes (like how some do with defensive driving classes) and stay relevant in classes." Another user remarked, "As an owner of one, I approve. It’s a responsible and reasonable solution. And you’re right, the insurance companies will lobby for legislation when it impacts their bottom line." @chellekaye89 shared, "I think it should be a license system like a car. You have to go in and be evaluated. Carry insurance(which will change stuff quickly) and prove proficiency on paper and in person on a range."
