Woman shares the adorable story behind why she dresses up to go to the airport and people love it

Traveling on a flight can often leave people disheveled. However, we still see many at the airport looking their best. Has this ever made you wonder why people opt to dress up while going to the airports, be it an early morning or a late-night flight? Sarah Ott has the answer, at least for herself. The content creator–who goes by @thesarahott on Instagram–gave a valid reason as to why she dresses up to go to the airport and people can't get enough of the story she shared. She spoke about the romantic potential that airports have. 

In the video, Ott is seen wearing a magenta top, brown pants and black boots, sipping her coffee. The text overlay reads, "A fun fact about me is I always dress up to go to the airport because that's where my parents meet." She further spoke about her parent's love story in the caption. "I remember when my mom first told me the story of how she and my dad met and I still think it's the most romantic thing in the world," Ott wrote. She shared that her mother was a teacher and her dad a cameraman. "That day, they were both randomly in a very remote town in the Arctic. As a result of the size of the town, the airport they were both in that afternoon was extremely small," she said.

Although one of them was staying and the other was leaving, her mom, who had studied in Germany, went up to the person to say hi after hearing him speaking in German. "They chatted, exchanged information and promised to write to each other before parting ways," the content creator wrote. They continued exchanging letters for years. "So yeah, if you ever wonder why I’m a hopeless romantic and dress up at airports... now you know," Ott concluded.

The post garnered over 616k views and people resonated with what Ott spoke about. @maggief0020 commented, "Love this! My parents met on an airplane! My dad was flying and my mom was his flight attendant." @ruellaalfreda wrote, "I met him on a plane. That's the beautiful thing. We love each other and it feels like a fairytale." @__ashkay__ shared, "My dad is a pilot and my mom was a flight attendant and they met on her last flight." @mmichaela.dawn expressed, "12 years as a flight attendant and I'm still waiting for this to happen to me."

Ott's aunt, @hahaclarke, also commented on the post, talking about how everything panned out between her sister and brother-in-law. "I'll add a bit to your story because I was there. Your mom, my sister, was saying goodbye to me at the airport after I was visiting her in this fly-in-only remote Arctic community. The airport was the size of a construction site trailer - so, yes, it was small," she wrote. "We noticed the cases of film equipment and your mom, braver than me, went over to your dad to ask what they were there filming. And that's when they started speaking German to each other! I flew off with your dad in a 12-seater plane. There's more to the story about what happened after that first meeting. I love that this story is why you dress up at an airport!"
