'You just feel like home to me...' she confessed.

A woman (u/extension_archer_939) shared a letter her girlfriend had written when they were barely teenagers. In fact, she wrote the letter when neither of the ladies had understood their true feelings for each other. The best friends turned lovers realized it much later, but the letter had said it all long before they did. The post was shared to Reddit on November 3, 2025.

"This is the most embarrassing thing I will ever write in my life," she began her letter, before pouring her heart out for her "best friend." She said she is grateful to have found someone like the Reddit user. Her (then) future girlfriend also confessed that if losing someone else meant meeting her, she would do it 1000 times again. "You are one of the most extraordinary people I have ever met. Your mind is so complicated, but so is mine, and I think we kind of just fit together," she added, confessing that the Reddit user had helped her learn more about herself. She thanked her for always believing and supporting her when most people didn't. "You just feel like home to me, but if anyone asks, I am not a simp, and I never said that," the girlfriend added, claiming she always made her feel like "less of an idiot." Further, she confessed that she would love to write a song for the Reddit user and how their friendship makes her look forward to the future. "I believe in you and your dreams more than anything because you are amazing in a million ways. You are also really handsome, but that is just a bonus, believe it or not," she wrote. The woman concluded by confessing that she plans to keep her best friend forever and never tire of their bond. "You are not allowed to leave now; you are trapped with me forever," she announced.

Friendship is the base of some of the best relationships in life. Things get even more beautiful when your partner is also your best friend, because then there is no barrier, and love only grows with time. In fact, a YouGov survey found that 83% Americans believe that friendship is a very important factor in a successful romantic relationship. The same study also found that Americans prioritize trust, honesty, respect, and open communication over other things in a romantic relationship.
Meanwhile, u/richesca commented, "It is such a beautiful letter and obviously written from the heart; she was head over heels in love with you and didn’t even realize it! I’m glad you ended up together." u/anxiouskris wrote, "I love these stories; sometimes it just starts with a good friend. Best friends can mean the world sometimes. I'm so glad that you guys found and have each other!"

Echoing the sentiments, u/intelligent-rub5814 confessed, "Literally I'd melt if someone did this for me, OP. You better spoil that girl. Omg, this is the cutest thing ever." u/realatemnot wrote, "It looks like you already were in a relationship back then; you just could not connect the dots to the actual word... But in the end, what matters are feelings, not what you call them. Good luck and keep your spirits up. It seems like you two strike a good balance between similarities and differences, which seems like a good basis in my opinion."
