A woman candidly reveals how she went on a date but was stood up by the guy, not once but twice. She has learned her lesson.
We have all heard of people getting catfished on dating apps. Catfishing is a term used to refer to an individual who creates a fake online persona to entice a victim to harass or troll them. Many times, these catfishing schemes are harmless, but people should still be wary of giving away any important personal information to such people. Taylor, who goes by @paretay on TikTok, shared a video a while back detailing a different kind of catfishing scheme she encountered while using a dating app.
The woman starts the video by sharing how she got stood up on a date and how it was the most humiliating experience she had ever been in. Taylor reveals how she met a guy on a dating app and how he immediately wanted to meet her at a specific restaurant. She says, "I get to the restaurant and see that he's nowhere to be found." The woman tried to reach out to him, but there was no response. Upon checking the dating app, she discovered that the guy had unmatched her. This made her very confused and angry because she had gotten all dressed up for the date.
She highlights how she figured that she could indulge in a meal as long as she was at the hotel. Taylor soon returned home and came across a shocking bit of information while scrolling Facebook. She shares, "I saw a very similar story from a girl at the same restaurant who also got stood up and she found out that there are restaurants now posing as people on dating apps just so you go to their business and you once you get stood up they know that probably nine times out of ten that you're gonna buy something from them."
The woman was flabbergasted to find out that people would do such a thing to get some business. She expresses how people who thought of the idea deserved to go to jail. The woman points out, "You are just ruining a girl's mental self-esteem." Taylor concluded the video by attaching two screenshots from social media of how the dating profile was a scam from other women. People were quite appalled to hear the woman's story and were very curious about the restaurant that did it.
@_m00nflower helpfully suggested, "Keep in mind, OP can't name the restaurant without revealing where she's located and she might not feel comfy doing that. Another individual, @o2c5ft0, commented, "If this happens again, just go to the next closest restaurant. Let their ploy benefit some other restaurant." @farmfitfun expressed, "The solution is to just go to Yelp and give them a 1 or 2-star review."
@shayladeanjohnson highlighted, "If a restaurant was smart, they should set up a date night, and BOOM, business would be popping." @brainduffytok shared, "I got an Xmas card with a real stamp and very realistic handwriting font on the envelope that turned out to be a credit card ad." Seeing all these comments, it's clear just how much more careful people should be when getting to know others on any online platform.
