She explained that these men have the most to lose if women start liking themselves a little too much.
Quite a few people in their 20s, especially women, feel afraid of entering their 30s and aging in general. People might feel that way because of a variety of reasons. It could be because of the feeling that they are running out of time or that they wouldn't be as valued or beautiful as they were in their 20s. A woman named Ally Rooker, who goes by @allyrooker on TikTok, took to the platform to express that mediocre men are the ones who create the fear of aging in women in their 20s and she has a valid explanation for the same.
Rooker's video came in response to a comment by @internetpolice on TikTok about how he found it scary that the creator thought she looked prettier at 30 than she did in her 20s. Addressing the problematic comment, Rooker said, "Something I need all women in their 20s to know, the people invested in making you feel terrified that your beauty and your value are going to expire after your 20s are mediocre men." She asked, "Who has the most to lose if women aren't terrified of aging?" Rooker pointed at the man's comment and said, "Exhibit A, this man who thinks it is scary that I like how I look at 30 more than I did at 20. They need you to think that you expire at 25 so that you'll lock one of them down before your frontal lobe develops."
"They are banking on the fact that the earlier you feel that you've lost your beauty and your value, the earlier you will feel like you have to take whatever man you can get," Rooker remarked. "The earlier you feel that you have to take any man you can get, the less work they have to put into being a quality partner. Like these men are saying, if you like yourself too much, you won't like us enough." This is something that they need to resolve, as per the woman. She emphasized that as cliché as it is to say you have to love yourself before anyone else loves you, there is truth to it.
"If you let these people make you think that you are not beautiful, you are not valued at a certain age; the bar is very low for how they will treat you," Rooker shared. "Being constantly terrified of aging and losing your value siphons your energy, the energy you could put into making sure that men act right to be or stay in your life." The woman highlighted that this is something people should think about if they are spiraling about aging. "Be nice to yourself and be nice to others. If for no other reason, then because they don't want you to be," she added. Rooker captioned the post, "You don’t expire at age 29." People took to the comments section of the video to express their opinions on the topic.
@notyourpoison wrote, "I look ten times better at almost 40 than I did in my twenties, I don't care what anyone says." @williamsvanderwoodson commented, "I looked better at 30 than I did at 20 and now I’m 50, I look better than when I was 40. In fact, I’d say I now look the best I’ve looked since my peak at 30." @cjnett remarked, "Growing up, I used to be scared about turning 30, but now, at 28, I’m so ok with where I am in life that I’m no longer terrified of that milestone. I’m constantly learning and that’s what matters!"
