She was going through a tough breakup when her dad gave her some advice that she wouldn't forget for a lifetime.
Breakups are challenging and painful as you try to move on with your life without the person you loved at some time. People often have to start their lives again after going through tough break-ups. At such challenging times, it is crucial to have a support system of family, friends and loved ones who can take care of you. Creative coach Jessica McGann shared that she too, was going through a tough breakup when her dad gave her a powerful message that helped her move on from the relationship.
The woman revealed that she and her partner who had been together for 4 years recently separated. “Over the weekend, I moved to my new apartment here in the city and I’ve been going through a breakup,” McGann confessed. She stressed how hard things had been for her and how painful it was to hold herself up after the breakup. “It’s been rough,” she added. The woman then mentioned that her father said something to her that she wished to share with those struggling. “Something my father said to me helped me and I’m hoping it will help any of you who are going through something similar,” she said.
“He said, ‘You know what else is painful? Being born. You’re going through a rebirth and that’s gonna be painful,’” McGann recalled. Accumulating as much strength as she could, the woman mustered courage and added, “I just thought this view of it was beautiful. It helped me feel less like I was crumbling or breaking. I was able to see it more like I’m expanding and I'm growing and changing for the better.” Opening up more about her experience, McGann told PEOPLE, “I had been up all night in emotional turmoil that was so overwhelming it manifested physically, and by morning I knew I was at a point where I needed help.”
She pointed out that her dad stepped in to be there for her and help her in any way she needed. "He sat and listened to me as I cried for hours, got me outside and moving, cooked me soup, and held me so I could fall asleep,” she said. While McGann didn’t have the best relationship with her father, she pointed out that his coming through in bleak times with his support was healing. The woman added that her pain will take its time to heal but she’s going to keep moving. "It's a reminder that even in tough times, we're not alone and I’m so over the moon that my content is doing exactly what I had intended it to, helping others through their own healing,” she remarked.
Her dad's words and support helped many in the comments section. @maureenangel74 said, “Having your dad in your corner is the best gift ever. Great dads are one in a million.” @angierh27 remarked, “Go, Dad! I love that outlook. With time, you’re going to be okay.” @howie.and.goldie wrote, “Crumbling and breaking comes before the rebuild. Feel it all, you’ve got this.”
