Manisha, a nutritionist, spoke about how she wished she would have known these things before she turned 50.
Society often tells people in their 50s and 60s that their life is almost over and they should focus on retiring and settling down. However, that’s not what this woman believes and she sure has a point. Manisha, a nutritionist who goes by @manishayournutrionist on TikTok, posted a video where she shared three things she wished she had known before turning 50.
She is seen sitting in her car and starts by saying, “If you’re in your 40s here’s some really important advice from a 53-year-old. These are things I wish I would’ve known.” She continues, “It’s stuff that might’ve made it a little bit easier for me as I entered my 50s.” The first thing that she highlighted was that one is not too old in their 40s. “You’re not too old to start a career, start a new hobby. And you’re certainly not too old to leave that relationship or toxic marriage that you might be in,” she points out.
Secondly, the nutritionist stated that one is not struggling to lose weight because they are in their 40s. “It’s still relatively easy for you. It’s like you telling someone in their 30s that it’s easy for them now that you’re in your 40s,” Manisha explains. She added that she is in her 50s and that is why she is saying it’s easier to lose weight in the 40s. Manisha then moved on to talk about the third point, which she said is the most important. "You have the opportunity to reduce your risk of so many types of illnesses, such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, osteoporosis…all of which will lead you to live a healthier, happier lifestyle. You can grow old and enjoy it,” Manisha suggested. She concluded by saying that all the advice was free so one could “take it or leave it.”
The video garnered 1.2 million views on TikTok and was captioned, “You have a window of opportunity which can change the rest of your life. Don’t take it for granted. I wish I would’ve known this.” People in their 40s resonated with what Manisha shared. @laurav.garcia commented, “I got divorced, sold my home, quit my job, and became a writer at 45. Also started dancing, solo traveling, weight lifting, and lost 40lbs. I'm 50 now and fitter than ever.” @zmochi00 wrote, “40s is still so young! I feel like I’m in my 20s. I’m enjoying life just with more money and experience.”
@beerabbyt shared, “Yes. I turned 40 and went to the doctor who said I needed to change my lifestyle. A year later I’m down 35 pounds, I’m taking vitamins, exercising at least 3x a week, etc. I feel so much better.” @heydallasgirl said, “As someone in her early 40s, this is such an encouragement to hear and be reminded of. Taking it to heart. Thank you.” @facetiousfemme_57 commented, “I just turned 42 last month and every aspect you mentioned is changing in my life. I needed this. Thank you.”
