Thrifting clothes is a hobby that a lot of women share and what better than scoring some amazing clothes at unbelievably cheap prices? Many even end up finding designer brands at such stores. TikTok user Sarah Dunk posted a video on March 5, 2023, about how she found a vintage black dress by Gianni Versace at a thrift store and she couldn’t hide her excitement.

She starts the video by saying, “Don’t want to be dramatic but, that over there, you are going to freak out.” Dunk then takes out a black dress from the rack and shows it on camera.

Dunk tells her friend, “It’s Versace.” While trying on the dress, she says, “It’s stunning. It’s actually perfect.” She then checks the price of the dress and it's $17. “It looks so expensive,” adds Dunk. Her friend asks the size of the dress, she says, “I don’t know.”

The video is captioned, “I have no words.” The video gained more than 16 million views. @notzanehijazi commented, “Girl that’s not just Versace, that’s VINTAGE Versace. I hope you bought it.” @thelilysmile wrote, “Girl WHERE are you thrifting and HOW do you find stuff this great?? AMAAAAAZING.” @_alis_life expressed, “You better have bought this!! That’s money!!!” @fayedelanty pointed out, “This is the stuff thrift dreams are made of. So happy slash jealous. Sending thrift love from Sydney Australia.”

In another video, she gave an update about the dress. “I did buy the dress. I’m an avid thrifter and if I see a designer piece, I’m obsessed with it. I have admired Gianni Versace and their styles, especially from the 90s so I actually so I had to buy it,” says Dunk. “There have been a lot of comments about how expensive the dress goes for resale. I’m so grateful that you guys found it.”

She then shows a picture of how well the dress fits her. “But this is all I have got. It fits pretty darn well and I’m definitely keeping it for myself,” says Dunk in the video.

The video garnered more than 3 million views. Many on the social media platform wanted her to either keep the dress or resell it at a higher price. @lifeofmary47 commented, “Girl do not keep it. It’s going for $9,800 online. That’s a good chunk of change.” @kbeezy wrote, “Girl don’t ever sell that. it looks like it was MADE FOR YOU.” @iluXsincerelyXme expressed, “Please don't sell that dress. It fits you like it was made for you. Save it for like an engagement party or something.” @katierossi pointed out, “It’s so cute but I would for sure sell it for 10k lol.”

Speaking to Insider, Dunk said: “TikTok did confirm my findings, and although the straps on mine are slightly different, it seems that the dress is likely from the S/S 1992 collection.”

However, Dunk said that she doesn’t know the exact cost of the dress but referenced a similar item that is currently listed on the website 1stDibs with a price tag of £8,454.78 Canadian, or $10,012. "No matter the case, I am truly so happy to have found this dress for under $20," she said.

She added that she has no plans to sell it. "One of my ultimate thrift goals was to thrift a couture gown," she said. "I could have never imagined that I would find a dress like this at the thrift store and finds like this rarely happen, so I plan on keeping it!"
