Usually, moving on from a relationship is quite an affair of packing boxes and deleting photos; however, for one woman (u/we_all_float_derry) on Reddit, that wasn't the case. In fact, when she found out that her fiancé was cheating on her, she refused to sit in the corner sobbing for hours. Instead, the woman picked herself up and decided to exploit her ex's greatest vulnerability, which was a crippling, visceral phobia of clowns. She discussed her epic revenge in a post that has received 11,000 upvotes to date.

A fitting 'memento'

The woman was engaged to a man who appeared "perfect" on the surface but was secretly involved in infidelity. He was a good-looking guy with a decent job and a house of his own, but deep down, he was a cheater who cheated with multiple women. When his fiancée learned about his infidelity, she decided to move out of his place, but not before teaching him a lesson. The woman informed her brother about it, who also stepped in to help his little sister get back at her cheating fiancé while he was out on a business trip. "We can also leave a memento for him," her brother suggested. He knew his sister's fiancé was terrified of clowns, so he decided to turn the house into a clown nightmare. The brother owned a print shop, so he printed clown pictures in various sizes to scare the cheating boyfriend.

The big switcheroo

"We framed most of the stuff in some super cheap plastic frames. Others we laminated," the woman recalled. Once her fiancé left for his work trip, she and her brother moved her belongings out of the apartment and filled it with clown pictures. From the silverware drawer, the underside of the toilet lid, the refrigerator, to his underwear drawer, every place had a laminated clown face. And as if this wasn't enough, they also changed his computer wallpaper and replaced his movie DVDs with clown footage. "We even made sure to put some in places that he wouldn't go into for a while so he'd get a scare months later," the woman confessed. She also left a note on the kitchen table, exposing him and his mistresses.

Selling the last reminder — the 'ring'

After turning the house into a horror show, the brother-sister duo celebrated with a couple of drinks she bought by selling her engagement ring. "Once the dumba** returned, I got a text message or two that was along the lines of 'You bitch.' It must have taken him days to take care of the photos out in the open alone," she added.

Infidelity isn't rare anymore

Infidelity continues to be a huge growing problem, with this woman being yet another victim of this phenomenon. In a time where people can be more connected than ever, just 46% of Americans believe that they are fully monogamous. And although the majority of people think men are more unfaithful than women, in reality, both are pretty close. In fact, a survey by Ashley Madison via YouGov revealed that 16% of Americans have been unfaithful in their relationship. While 19% of men confessed to having cheated in a relationship, an almost equal share of women (13%) also admitted the same. But what usually makes a man or a woman cheat? Well, reasons vary from (41%) wanting more attention to (37%) boredom in the relationship. Almost half of the respondents (48%) said they cheated because they weren't satisfied with their primary relationship, but also did not want a divorce or separation.

Meanwhile, reacting to the Reddit story, u/xander_the_powerful suggested, "The only thing you should have done more was to hire at least 10 clowns for a little kid's birthday party." Similarly, u/heldonhammer wrote, "It is never wise to cheat on those that know you the best, for they know how to hurt you the worst."
