Running into an ex in public is already a universally awkward experience, but one woman found herself in that exact scenario, and she did what many can only dream of. She delivered a swift, direct roast straight to her ex's face right in front of his new partner. The situation escalated the next morning when the new girlfriend sent a message confronting her actions. What followed was a brutally hilarious, unfiltered voice note that systematically disassembled the ex-boyfriend’s appearance, style, and height, a response so iconic it instantly went viral online. The video was posted by the ex-girlfriend herself (@datewithviolet) on September 29, 2026, and has already racked up over 9,500 likes and more than 470 comments.

Look who walked in

The drama unfolded after the creator bumped into her ex and his new girlfriend during a night out. Having been cheated on throughout their entire relationship with women he met on dating apps, she didn't hold back her thoughts when she saw him. The next morning, still feeling the lingering effects of the night before, she woke up to a defensive text from the new girlfriend demanding to know, "How dare you talk about my boyfriend like this?" Rather than backing down or apologizing, she hit record on a voice message and let loose a comedic barrage of insults that left zero room for misinterpretation.

She said it not once, but twice

"Eh, yeah, I did call him the human equivalent of a damp sock and a tracksuit," she admitted in the voice message without an ounce of regret. She doubled down immediately, adding, "and I actually also said I've seen more life in a spunk-soaked tissue than him, and I stood by both." Addressing the new girlfriend’s defense directly, she noted how ridiculous the confrontation felt: "So ah yeah I'm sorry but you messaging me and saying you don't appreciate me insulting a boyfriend is actually just quite funny to me."

She then added more salty statements that she said the night before: "Do you know what? I also said he looks like he asked for a receipt after buying a Freddo and his entire wardrobe looks like he panic-bought it at the two-for-one deal at Sports Direct," she quipped. Continuing her relentless critique, she added, "I also said he looks like the sort of man who refers to himself as an alpha but still needs his mum to book his dentist appointment."

'I actually could have said a lot worse'

As if that wasn't enough, she admitted that her live insults were actually mild, "I actually could have said a lot worse. Like oh he's so short Snow White doesn't even want him for one of her dwarfs," she joked, before adding another zing: "He would get mistaken for a missing child at a theme park if he was stood on his own." Despite the hilarious hostility, she made sure to clarify that her outburst didn't stem from lingering feelings or jealousy and infact, she has moved on.

"Which is why I can look at him now and think Jesus Christ, I used to fancy that." Wrapping up her masterclass in moving on, she offered a sarcastic blessing: "So yeah. I'm happy for you. I'm so glad you found your man. You get the damp sock. You get to keep him... Just don't message me asking to pretend that I can't see what he looks like because, unfortunately for you, I was there first. Anyway, love you. Bye."

Caught on a dating app

Digital behavior can also blur relationship boundaries. A July 2026 Talker Research survey of 2,000 Americans in relationships found that 37% considered keeping a dating-app profile “just to look” or for validation to be cheating. Another 36% said deleting or hiding messages from a partner crossed the line, while the same share viewed secretly keeping in touch with an ex as infidelity.

Netizens love the brutally honest response and are declaring her comedic roasts a masterclass in handling an ex's new partner. User @jasminejobson writes, "I’m crying, You are hilarious!" Another user, @justdillyingabout, commented, "This is the best use of free will and freedom of speech 'anyway, love you byyyyyyeeee'". The best one is by @blithesaxon: "This is art."
