Woman reveals valid reason why she uses kitchen tongs while driving: 'Tongs for life'

People have many creative hacks to make the process of driving easier. It can be putting a cupholder beside the front seat or keeping essentials handy everyone has their tricks. However, Brittany Nash—who goes by @asian.barbiee on TikTok—claims that one bizarre tool can be the resort to inconvenient drives. She shared that many drivers face the hassle of getting tickets, receipts and other stuff from the driver’s seat. Many even try to stretch their hands and bodies as much as possible to reach the counter. In addition, there’s the hassle of stopping at the perfect distance to get the job done. However, Nash’s recommended that this “tool” can make things simpler.

She acknowledged that she’s not a great driver and tries to make things convenient for herself and the other person. Her tool always comes to her rescue and she swears by the simple item coming right out of her kitchen. “Every time someone new sits in my car, they ask me, ‘Brit, why do you have a tong?” Nash revealed a pair of tongs that people have in their kitchens for chicken, veggies and other items. She left people surprised by mentioning that this was the tool that helped her with any inconvenience. “I say, ‘Good question, but I have a better answer,’” Nash remarked. 

“I’m a bad driver. I’ve accepted it. You know when you come to those little room gates when you car park?” Nash highlighted. She was indicating the drive-thru counters meant to give or take cash and receipts. “I can never get close enough to the ticket machine,” she revealed. It is meant to be a quick one wherein the driver picks up the ticket while they’re in their car and drives off. It was becoming a problem for Nash and she came up with the idea of tongs. Demonstrating with the tongs in her hand, she said, “We buy my handy-dandy little tongs and get the ticket.” 

As she demonstrated, she sat in the driver’s seat, reaching out with the tongs effortlessly to pretend to pick. The idea is that the tongs offer an added length to reach out and grab what is required. “Whenever there’s a person behind me, they always laugh at me. But I’d rather be the weirdo with the tongs who is low-key kinda smarter than be the person doing this,” Nash exclaimed as she pretended to show how many people struggled back and forth to reach the window. She mentioned that the struggle is way more embarrassing than using tongs. “Tongs for life,” she concluded.

Many people found the idea baffling and preferred struggling. Others suggested that Nash learn to park or stop in a better proximity. @snowyowl58 wrote, “Couldn’t be me!” @therealestnoah6 said, “Just drive a little closer every time till you get it right.” However, many were on board with the idea as they related to the embarrassing awkwardness. @winnie20165 wrote, “I always have to park in, remove my seat belt and reach out the window or open my door.” @ishitafterdiary2 commented, “Can confirm you always do this and it’s genius.” @alondono123 added, “And you can use the back to punch in the numbers.” @rebeccajanesingh exclaimed, “I am doing this. Off I go to get silicone grip tongs.”
