The video gained 1.5 million views and many were amazed by the story of Lucy Liu babysitting them.
Many of us remember our babysitters from when we were younger, and the majority of them were just fun teenagers looking to make some extra pocket money. However, none of us were as lucky as content creator Rudi, who goes by the handle @thenameisrudi on TikTok. Rudi was babysat by a famous personality before she was even famous. She revealed in a recent TikTok carousel that she, along with her sister, were babysat by none other than Lucy Liu, the "Charlie's Angels" actress. TikTok was shocked on finding out that someone can be so lucky as to be cared for by an award-winning actress.
Rudi's post starts with an adorable photo of her with her sister in the '90s with the text overlay, "Your family moved to LA for a couple of months when you were a baby." Then, we see a photo of the sisters with Lucy Liu and the Hollywood sign in the background. The text overlay reads, "Your mum made friends with another artist called Lucy." Rudi then shares an old photo of Lucy in overalls and writes, "She also wore dungarees and would sometimes babysit you." She then continues and shares a current picture of Lucy with the text, "She ended up becoming a pretty big deal."
Concluding the video that has taken the site by surprise, she added a recent photo of herself with her sister writing, "Hi Lucy, hope you’re well. All our love, the all-grown-up Salmon sisters." TikTok users freaked out after seeing Lucy Liu as a babysitter, with many of them considering Rudi really lucky. In just four days, the video has gathered 1.5 million views and almost 175k likes. One TikTok user @emilyvargabooks wrote, "Why does Lucy Liu look exactly the same?" Another person @alexiskolapanas shared her own story of a celebrity babysitter. She commented, "Lucy Hale from pretty little liars babysat me a couple of times! She was best friends with my original babysitter and would come over to hang."
A third person @k.untess commented, "This is so sweet, I hope somehow she sees this and you guys can have dinner or something. I'm sure your parents would be gassed to see her again." User @analaurakuri said, "I bet they think about these little life captures at times, the small but meaningful connections they made along the way to their stardom, they must."
Such stories and interactions regarding celebrities remind us that they are humans and have had common lives before their stardom. Some, like Tyler Perry, even maintain their humble and kind nature after getting famous. During the first year of the Pandemic, Perry took on the role of a fairy godfather for approximately 3000 shoppers in his hometown of Atlanta, as well as numerous individuals at 29 Winn-Dixie establishments in New Orleans during the designated hour for vulnerable customers. This display of kindness followed shortly after his distribution of $21,000 in gratuities to unemployed servers at a restaurant in Atlanta. He moved several people to tears as they were grateful for this generosity at the hours they needed it the most.
