It might as well be in human nature to break a rule and hope not to get caught. One of the best instances of this behavior would be commonly found in airports. Some passengers overpack their carry-on luggage and then regret it when charged a hefty fee. They might've thought they could get away with it but luck may not work out in their favor every time. However, fashion and travel influencer, Faith Woodhall—who goes by @faithinfashion on TikTok—has come to the rescue of passengers who love to overpack. She revealed a simple yet effective hack to save several dollars on baggage fares and people love this idea.

In a 7-second video, Woodhall seemed to be having fun at the airport with her friend. The reason? The two women cracked the code on how to trick the airline staff into letting them carry their extra stuff without having to pay for them. "Travel tip: Bring a second plastic bag full of stuff and buy a Boots/duty-free bag at the airport," the text overlay read. This trick will make the ground staff think that the person has just bought that stuff at the airport. Woodhall gives us a glimpse of what was actually in her Boots bag and it was the plastic bag that she had packed.

The video from this August gained traction garnering over 436K views within a couple of weeks. Looks like, Woodhall's hack has been working out well for many users. "Been doing this for years. Works every time! Never had a problem getting past Ryanair," said @jomacofficial. "I've been doing this for years, works even with Easy Jet and Ryan Air!" added @carbienotbarbie1

A few people who use this hack worried that their secret is out and the airlines might get the hang of it. "Things like this shouldn’t be posted online. And we wonder why all these things we try to work around the system are going away," pointed out @tr2008712. "Now the airlines are going to find out and check the extra bags. You shouldn’t have posted it. Keep it a secret," chimed in @sophiadunican16.

Secret or not, people might keep finding ways to avoid being charged an excess fee. The sad reality of this last-minute charging of baggage fare can be explained by the instance of how a mom-of-three was left stressed out after airlines demanded $65 for her luggage. An individual who goes by @CoolCalmPoch on X shared a video of the mom freaking out after being charged a £50 ($65) bill before boarding the plane. Turns out, she could pay the fee only using a card and the mom felt helpless.

Though the mom was told that she didn't have to check in her bag, the ground staff found her bag too big and demanded a fee, as per Daily Mail. She could only pay using her card but all she had was cash. Fortunately, a thoughtful stranger stepped up and paid the amount for her. "It was an amazing act of kindness that he really didn't need to do. He literally came out of nowhere, it was a crazy experience," the mom told the news channel.
