Woman quits interview midway after company promises team of 'rowdy men using locker room' talk

The woman realized that the company's work culture was too insane to keep going and walked out of the interview even though she really needed the job.

Finding a job in an extremely competitive market can be hard. So even if a thing or two goes wrong during the interview process, several candidates are ready to keep pushing through. However, Tyler Elizabeth @notaboytyler shared an interview experience on TikTok where walking out seemed like her only option. She was firmly told that she would have to deal with a sales team full of "rowdy men" who often used "boy's locker room" talk. The woman captioned the video, "Is this normal, or am I just crazy? I think I had a more professional experience with Starbucks."

Elizabeth started the video by saying, "Storytime, I just walked out of my very first interview from a company that I am pretty sure was going to hire me." The woman was supposed to meet the CEO for the third and final round of her interview with the company. She expressed, "I didn't have a very good feeling about the company because, in my second interview, I was told that I was going to be surrounded by a sales team that was mostly made up of 'rowdy men' who did not use 'politically correct terms.'" She added, "They often used 'Locker room talk.'" The idea didn't sound right to her but as she was desperate for a job she decided to go for the third round where she would meet the CEO.

The woman shared that she has been looking for a job for three or four months and this was the closest she has gotten to getting a job offer. So she ended up agreeing to the third interview. She continued, "Y'all I cannot make this up. When they asked me for the third interview to meet the CEO at a Shoney's, the restaurant, at 8:30 in the morning the next day, very last minute, and very strange location in my opinion." However, she decided to go. She added, "I just need to do what I need to do." Surprisingly when the creator got there it wasn't just the CEO, who she was told she would have a one-on-one meeting with, but the entire sales team was present as well. Elizabeth had actually walked into the sales team meeting. She went on, "I run into the hiring manager, who is also there, a part of the sales team I guess."

The hiring manager apologized to her and told her that this was a sales team meeting and asked her if she could sit through it and wait for her turn. She complied once again and waited for 30 minutes. The CEO was eventually free and had no idea who Elizabeth was and why she was there. He didn't even have a clue if she had been hired or not. "He doesn't know my name, he hasn't reviewed my resume," she lists down. At this point, her uncertainty was showing on her face. The CEO even asked her if she was okay. She said, "You know, I think there's a lot of miscommunication and lack of coordination with this company." She told the CEO that she felt he didn't even know that she was supposed to be there. The CEO started making excuses and finally responded, "Well, this is how my company operates, and if it's not for you, then so be it."

At this moment Elizabeth simply picked up her purse from the table and walked out of the interview. She wondered, "I don't know if my standards are too high, or maybe this is normal behavior for CEOs." The creator then asked people on TikTok to weigh in on it. @veebees5 said, "I think the hiring manager did you a solid by letting you witness the carnage before signing. And there's a good chance it was intentional." @annamichellehp commented, "The CEO was very disrespectful of you and your time. Good move walking out." Even though the creator is still unemployed, walking out was probably for the best for her.
