Love is a universal language that dissolves all barriers. The spirit of love encompasses it all, whether it is language, geography or religion. A beautiful example of this is the story of Jordan Hauenschild and Pitiuruk. The Aussie native fell in love with the Indigenous Ecuadorian from the opposite end of the world. What started as an Instagram post led to a fairytale being unfolded in the jungles of Amazon thousands of miles away, per New York Post

26-year-old Hauenschild stumbled upon 24-year-old Pitiuruk's Instagram profile in December 2023. She was eager to learn about the Amazonian culture and his way of life, after which she impulsively dropped him a text. "I was just doing the late-night doom scroll before bed and I came across this gorgeous man who was posting incredible content over in a country I knew nothing about," she told News AU. She did not expect him to reply and when he did, Hauenschild was left stunned. "I couldn't believe someone from the Amazon jungle, on this exotic piece of land, just responded to me," she continued.

Pitiuruk and Hauenschild's chats turned into frequent video calls where they would educate one another about their daily life and respective cultures. "Our conversations were mainly about our way of life, what we do during the day, what we eat, where we sleep and how we live," Hauenschild said. "And he would walk me through a day in his life living in the Amazon, which is pretty unique." Pitiuruk lives with his family in Pastaza, Puyo canton Amazonia Ecuador, where they offer guided tours to educate others about their ancestral culture.

However, after four months of conversation, the Aussie girl took a serious decision. She quit her 9 to 5 job, booked a Contiki trip to Peru, Argentina and Brazil and also made arrangements to meet the man she has developed a special connection with. When she shared her idea with Pitiruk, he was equally excited and even started planning an itinerary for her. After 30 hours of traveling, Hauenschild finally reached the Pitiuruk's family home in Guayusa Runa and it did not take them long enough to develop a romantic connection.

Despite not being fluent in each other's language, the duo spent the next two weeks growing closer. "If the spark is there, it doesn't matter if you can't speak each other's language. I've never had such a connection with somebody where I know exactly where I stand," she explained. "After I acclimatized, we had a family member drive us five hours to Pitiuruk's family home." Pitiuruk's family welcomed their Australian guest with love and warmth and even told her that "their jungle is her jungle."

In the time she spent at Pitiuruk's home, she would wake up each day in nature to the sound of drums, visit local farms and help the family to cook. Hauenschild also shared how Pitiuruk's family had to embrace tourism and establish an online presence to educate people about their culture and livelihood. However, Pitiuruk has ambitions to travel to other countries and work as an indigenous model. After her trip, Hauenschild returned to Australia and posted her story on her TikTok page @jordankh_. Fortunately, their love story caught the attention of Flight Center, who sponsored Hauenschild's next visit to Ecuador.

"They're going to fund my flights, which is just incredible. When I told Pitiuruk, we both just cried," she told the outlet. "I had received an email from Flight Centre saying they were invested in our story and wanted to see us reunited. We were both in tears because we didn't expect to see each other for another year or so." Some curious TikTok users left comments for the couple, wishing them well. @ellenhubbs joked in one of their popular videos: "What is unexpected about falling in love with a man with perfect hair and eyes and smile and abs." @catastrophee added, "That is a beautiful man right there. Inside and out."
