If you’ve ever put time into getting someone a gift, you’ll recall how frustrating it is when someone fidgets with it, or worse, steals it. u/Livy5000 shared a similar instance where she hilariously fixed her nosy dad who kept fidgeting. Sharing her story on Reddit, she mentioned that she had got her husband a gift and went out to get supplies after carefully instructing her dad not to touch it. However, he was too indulged in being nosy.

“My late dad had the thought that if something was in his house, it was his. He conveniently forgot that mom is the one who bought the property and house. It was actually hers. Anyway, my then-husband and I were living with them because hubby had lost his job due to his boss retiring,” said the woman. After providing a background, she dived into the hilarious story. She said, “I bought a special jar that looked like it had gourmet jelly beans in it for my husband. I put it on the counter and told Dad not to touch it, that it was a gift for my husband and that I would be right back to wrap it up.” She went on to mention that she then went and got the supplies and returned to her dad saying, “It’s my house.”

“I didn't try to stop him as I put my supplies on the counter and just watched him. He smirked at me and should have realized something was very wrong. Mom knew but kept her mouth shut.” The woman knew what was to unfold given the history of her dad’s bothersome attitude. She added, “He opened the jar and his high-pitched girly scream and the massive jump that caused to fall on his ass had me laughing hard. He was then holding on to his chest and breathing hard. A ‘snake’ had jumped out along with confetti. He glared at me and called me a b*tch which just made me laugh harder.”

Her mom then exclaimed, “When she tells you not to touch something, you should know by now not to touch it. That it's meant to scare the crap out of someone.” u/Livy5000 then revealed the plan she devised all along. She cleaned up everything and got it ready again for her husband. When he got home, she gave him the gift. "His eyes lit up. And he eagerly opened. I got another girly scream and then he started laughing. Then I gave him another gift. I got four packs of jelly beans because I know my parents love them too. So, one for my husband, one of my mom, one for my dad and one for me.” Turns out, she knew her dad had the horrible habit of being nosy so to teach him a lesson, came up with a mock gift for her husband and father while she carefully stored the actual one.

The post received over 5k upvotes and commenters went wild. u/I_ _Know__Stuff said, “Can you imagine a person opening a gift that they were just told was for someone else?” u/Danili said, “That sounds like a healthy relationship you all have. A bit annoying, but a very good one. Also, your payback to your dad was great!” Now Dad surely knows to stay out of other people’s business and well, gifts!
