She even did a countdown video to hype her friend's engagement.
It’s one thing to be surprised by a proposal. It’s another to spend ten days helping set it up—only to find out it was for you all along. That kind of twist only works when everyone involved plays their part just right. In one such story, the timing, planning and misdirection were almost so perfect that they fooled the person at the center of it. TikTok creator, Bri Grace (@briannavlogs1), was convinced she was helping plan her best friend's engagement. In her video, she began counting down to the big moment.
"Ten days until my best friend gets engaged," she said at the start, tracking each day with growing excitement. What she didn’t realize was that she was actually counting down to her own proposal. At the end of the video, she showed her engagement ring and said, "So, it actually ended up being me." In the comments, she explained exactly how it all happened. She said, "The two boys had me in a group chat planning my best friend's 'engagement' on the beach, but in reality they were all three planning it for me. I was expecting to go to the beach to set up her engagement."
In a follow-up video, she shared more footage from the day, including clips of her doing everything to make sure her best friend's big day was perfect. She wrote on the text overlay, "On our way to pick up pizza, which was their distraction to set up the proposal for me, but I thought they were just setting up a blanket and eating pizza before my best friend got engaged." Viewers loved the twist and praised the creativity of the plan. The original video was deleted at 1 million views, but she reposted it, writing, "Had to repost it, because this is so funny." She also posted a video of her proposal, and viewers were in absolute awe.
Many related to her complete unawareness leading up to the moment. The comment section was filled with a mix of admiration and amusement. @avery.umbrell wrote, "Technically you were never wrong tho, your best friend DID get engaged…to YOU!!!" @capable.calliope pointed out, "This is literally such a good idea, though! You can take her to do all of the things like getting her nails done and have no idea that you're actually doing them for you!" @ninaisthebomb.com added, "This happened to me. I thought my friend was getting proposed to, but it was me. I was like, 'He’s throwing her a party. He just wants to trick her so he can propose.' It was my party." @rstanleyyyy said, "This is literally the level of oblivion I had. Wouldn't change it at all, though. So funny to look back and think about."
@evaj012 commented, "That is so smart of them to do that, and now you have your own countdown to your engagement. Congrats." @BriBri12721 joked, "The real question is: Who actually has their life together enough to start packing SIX DAYS BEFORE their trip?!?!" @rebecca_nemitz asked, "Did your friend know it was actually you getting engaged? And had to act oblivious?? What a genius plan." to which the creator replied, "Yes."
