A wife's attempt to make a 'gingerbread house' with her husband took an unexpected turn when he brought professional tools into the mix.
Separating a person from their professional side isn't always easy—it can sneak into their personal life when you least expect it. For example, a lawyer might start a debate at the dinner table, or a teacher might turn a casual conversation into a lecture. These subtle glimpses reveal how our careers are not just jobs, but a huge part of who we are. Similarly, Deanna Wolfe (@dietitiandeanna), a dietician, shared how her husband, an engineer by profession, helped her make a simple "gingerbread house" using professional tools. The Instagram video amazed over 70 million viewers, leaving the internet in stitches.
When Wolfe planned a super cute gingerbread house date with her husband, she envisioned it to be a lighthearted and fun activity. Instead, he showed up with a full set of professional tools—glue gun, measuring tape, and all—and dove in like he was building a mini-mansion for himself. "When you’re just trying to have a cute gingerbread house date, but your husband is an engineer," the on-screen text read. On the other hand, Wolfe seemed unimpressed and shared glimpses of her husband in action.
Wolfe shared with Newsweek that she and her husband started making gingerbread houses as a family tradition after their first daughter was born. "We started it as a family tradition after our first girl was born a few weeks before Christmas three years ago! We usually use ones from Target or Trader Joe's and make a whole night out of it with hot cocoa and now it's a yearly family tradition. My husband and I normally do it together, and now we have a second daughter," Wolfe revealed. Moreover, she shared that her husband worked as a construction engineer and hence had all the tools. "He has tools as a mechanical engineer when he worked in construction/structural engineering and got out his speed square, drill and tape measure," Wolfe told the outlet.

She will never freeze." @karina wrote, "The safety glasses on his head help him think better." @jj commented, "Probably the first gingerbread house that could withstand a tornado."
@nicolestorydent wrote, "My dad is an engineer. I grew up with every single craft or school project being EXACTLY like this." @bethfraher commented, "He is one hundred percent engaged in this activity. All hands on deck. They can barely make eye contact. That aside, he looks super happy." @zana who had a similar experience with their brother wrote, "As someone who hosts a yearly family gingerbread competition and has a brother who is an engineer —accurate."
Meanwhile, Chloe Oehler (@chloeoehler), an incredible baker from Utah has been making unbelievable gingerbread houses with intricate detailing. "The house is old and quirky and it makes me feel like I live in one of my gingerbread houses. I actually did make a replica of our house out of gingerbread one year and it's still one of my favorites. I love staying home to cook and bake or work in my garden," she shared. Oehler has been in the business for more than a decade and has shared pictures of incredible designs on her Instagram page.
