The thief thought Jin from BTS was Natali Vitoria Ramos Reis' boyfriend

Imagine telling your kids and grandkids that Kim Seok-jin, a.k.a. Jin from BTS, stopped a thief from nabbing your phone. On May 19, 2023, 21-year-old Natali Vitoria Ramos Reis, a Brazilian woman, almost got her phone stolen while waiting at a bus stop in Curitiba, according to International Business Times. However, when the thief saw who was on the back of Natali's phone, he gave it back and ran away almost immediately.
The thief had already taken Natali's phone and was looking through it when he saw a photo on the back of the device. Natali, an ardent BTS fan, had used a photo of Jin in his military uniform as a back cover. The thief, unaware of who Jin was, thought it was better to return it than to deal with someone in the military. Natali told the news outlet, "He must have thought, 'Oh. Her boyfriend is a military soldier. I won't steal.'" The story went viral, and several international news outlets reported on the incident. However, since Jin was still serving at the time, he did not react to the story.
For those who are unaware, Kim Soek-jin is a member of the South Korean boy band BTS. He began his career in 2013 after being scouted by Big Hit Entertainment for his looks. Notably, before becoming a BTS member, he studied acting and had no experience with music. However, on June 12, the global star made his debut as a vocalist, and the rest is history. After 9 years in the band, Soek-jin enlisted in the military on December 13, 2022. Almost two years later, he was discharged from the military in June 2024. Now, he is back to making music with the band.
Having a phone stolen is not an experience anyone wants to go through. A 2014 Lookout report revealed that most people had their phones stolen because they left them in public spaces (44%). One of the most frequent places where this occurs is at restaurants (16%). People also have their phones stolen during a car or home burglary (14%). Some get their phones stolen at a bar or nightclub (11%), at work (11%), or on public transport (6%). The report also surprisingly revealed that 70% of respondents would put themselves in physical danger only to get their phone back. Luckily for Natali, she did not have to go through any of this, all thanks to Jin.

Meanwhile, reacting to the wholesome story, @stella_jainn said, "That worldwide handsome face card never fails." Similarly, @_sassy_women_ joked, "The real definition of 'if I am not with you physically, I am always with you somewhere.'"
